anxiety meds

so im going to the doctors on the 31st for help with all this damn detox anxiety. its getting in the way of my family, job, school.. i could barely sit in a room with all my boyfriends family for christmas because im was going to spaz out. i mean it gets so bad it physically hurts me. like i get that terrible pain in my ribs like im on a swingset or something. yes i know this is all normal.
my question is, you think my doc will help me. i mean i have my mom to manage my meds really good now. im not asking for valium or xanax, but maybe klonipin? or is that just wishful thinking?

Just remember that most of the anxiety meds are addictive as well.  My doctor called in Vistaril for me.  It really helped.  I don't even think it is prescribed for anxiety, but it worked and I was able to stop  taking them with no problems.

Good luck sweetie.

I've found that GP's are reluctant to give out benzos (all you mentioned are benzos) to addicts especially if they're the Doctor that got you hooked in the first place. If you're seeing a psychiatrist, they may very well prescribe them. My Psychiatrist called some in for me, but I requested he limited it to a 10 day supply. But, there are two non addicting drugs that can help. Clonidine and Atarax are used for withdrawal anxiety and work quite well to an extent. Hope this helps some.
