herion addiction

My 23 year old daughter is a herion addict..she was arrested this past weekend for possesion..We are trying to detox her at home, but there seems to be nothing that helps. She has told me that she was shooting up 8-10 times a day. We do not have the financial means to place her in a rehab. Does anyone have any advice?

if your daughter wants to go to treatment and can't afford it, get ahold of your local CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY CENTER. most if not all county's have one. from there she can be assessed, see a councilor, and possibly get into your state in-patient chemical dependency center. i went to my state's in-patient treatment center and it was really great, very structured and it was free. you have to be referred by your local chemical dependency clinic and they go by a sliding scale meaning you pay according to your income. i some of these options work for you and your daughter, but like many have said, she has to want to get and be clean or unfortunately she'll be right back out. I came off Heroin at home too. As much as it may sound easy for me to say, but it is so achieveable. She can really do this if she really wants too!
I found that the only things that helped me was hot baths.....the hotter the better! It eased the aches and pains so much. I had in the region of 4-8 baths a day.
I really dont have any other advice to offer, it really is just a case of being able to ride it out, no matter how hard it gets or how uncomfortable she is gonna feel.
I wish your daughter the strength to do this and i will keep you and your daughter in my thoughts!

i am so sorry to hear this.  heroin is a hard detox.  you can look in the health pages to the right and find the thomas recipe and the aminos protocol.  they will both help some...i hope your daughter is really wanting help...it is hard when you are determined to get clean and near impossible if you are doing it for someone else.  maybe you can have her come here and read our stories so she can see she is not alone...also get her to some meetings they help alot and are free...good luck to your family and keep us posted.
