anybody else going through this?

I quit smoking, 3 kinds of pills for nerve pain, one was topomax, another was something for leg pain at night when sleeping and my depression pill which has something in it for pain. I could not taste anything , nothing tasted right and I though ok this is because of stopping smoking, also stopped drinking pepsi, then I noticed chocolate tasted off, then I could not have my morning coffee, it smells and tastes burnt, It  has been almost 4 months and I still can't drink coffee and everything still tastes off, so I figured it was my pain pills, so I started weaning off them, now it is day 6 of no pills ,all I take is a sleeping pill. Anyone else having these problems?

Hi Kaydee,

what you have described is a very common side effect of the topomax, They made soda taste flat or funny and some people describe food tase funny.. I've never smoked and noticed that soda tasted flat but then again I love less bubbly and flat soda.

I take topamax for Migraines. Google search the side effects and check it you have confirm some of yours as I think it sounds very similar to this.

My guess it is the smoking that has caused this. It happened to me when I stopped (I started again). I quit for about a month and nothing tasted right to me. I hear this from a lot of people. If it continues see your doctor and ask about it. Good luck.
