anyone take lyrical while detoxing?

Came from my pain management doc today. I have been weaning down on my meds. Went from 360 oxy and 90 norco a day along with robaxin and elavil. Am now only taking 1/2 norco in morning and 1/2 norco at night after my failed detox last month. My doc perscribed me LYRICAL to help with my restless legs during detox and to help me try to get some sleep. Both were the major factors why I failed my detox. I have noticed a huge difference in my life in just the past month that I have reduced my drugs. Way more energy and active and not even so moody anymore. I no that when I start my detox again that will change for a while but I am very excited to get off this **** all together Have not figured out when my 1st day of detox will be because kids start school next week and I have to take them to school every day and pick them up and i remember last detox attempt I could barely function let alone drive thru school zones. I strongly suggest that anyone trying to get off this life ruinning medication do it the way I have . You will withdrawal some everytime you lower your dose but it isnt bad at all. I cant say what it is like after my last decrease yet because that is when I do my detox but I will let you no if it is as severe as my last detox.

Hi Whitie, yes it was 360 mg oxy a day and 90 mg norco a day. The lyrica was perscribed by my pm dr. He says he has been giving it to patients with severe rls like i have and it has been working great. The rls is even worse during detox. He says to take one at nite and it should help with both the rls and the insomnia because of the "drunk" feeling. He is only giving me enough for the detox so I wont use it to replace the oxy and norco. Once done with detox I will go back to my original meds for the rls which is elavil. The elavil works normally but just not during the detox. I can handle some of the rls but during detox it is so bad that I have got to constantly walk and move. try doing that for 3 days without sleep and going thru withdrawals. Dont think the energy bunny could even do that. I am so prepared for my detox next thursday that there is no way I cant make it this time. Got my family and my doc rooting for me. Got the hot tub ready. Got the long labor day weekend and got my wife staying home with me. This time there will be no pills in the house!!!!

perhaps like you said, it would be best to continue your taper till your body adjust to the new level.

best to prepare yourself for the eventual WD's. you have been through it before.

the rls is just part of the price your going to have pay in the end, but it will pass sooner than some of the other issues you will have going on.

btw what exactly were you on 360 and 90 norcs, must be mgs...right?

I am sorry to interject here...............

lindy you stated,

" I am starting Meth tomorrow as I have no alternative. My new dr. does not beleive in any narcotics at all.  I tried (very hard), to go ct last week at an Aunts house, it was the worse thing in my life and that is why I am going the Meth route."

did your doc suggest the methadone........or is it just your own choice?

not trying to be a bone, but thought I would let you know methadone is WORST to wd's off than any opiate or opioid you can imagine. i would highly suggest you do not take methadone,a narcotic opioid.........legendary for its WD's. take it from guy that was on it for a year and a half.

speaking of RLS..........shoot I had tensing, and constantly shaking legs on the 'done wd's not to mention the runs for almost two months!!!!! it was a nightmare !!

I have taken Lyrica for Fibro.  I think it makes me feel "drunk".  Not sure if it helps with wd but my Dr. is introducing it to me as an alternate to narcotics.  I am starting Meth tomorrow as I have no alternative. My new dr. does not beleive in any narcotics at all.  I tried (very hard), to go ct last week at an Aunts house, it was the worse thing in my life and that is why I am going the Meth route.  The irony of all of this is the lyrica makes me feel more wasted than any narcotic.  Let  me know what you think of lyrica and good luck...I hear ya!

I have to take Lyrica from time to time for pretty severe nerve pain that I get, thankfully the nerve pain is few and far between these days because I really dont like taking Lyrica. Hopefully it does help you through the process, but if not you should look into the Hylands RLS, it has helped many during the w/d's. I wish you the best of luck, sounds like your down to 10mgs/day total, so hopefully that will lessen the intensity of the withdrawals. Again best of luck, take care.

Sorry didnt meen i was going to cut that down. Doc did say to stop all together at this point and I will. Just have horrible restless legs at nite that stop me from getting sleep and he recommended lyrical and gave me a script for it. The pain meds used to do the job but at this point they dont because I dont take hardly any.

Lyrica was developed and widely prescribed for Fibromyalgia. I have never heard of it being used for detox.

If you are down to 1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the pm, you should have no problem jumping off at this point. It seems you would just be prolonging it by taking the one a day and I am surprised your pm doctor hasn't suggested that you finish up at this point.
