Ha, funny screen name. But effin congrats. Fantastic!! From I assume 5 yrs straight to a whole MONTH facing life for real is so amazing. I had exactly what you described still after my FIRST 30 days, which brings me to my point: I learned the hard way, one year later, that I needed lots and lots more help during that time than I knew. I felt weakish, and not like me physically or emotionally yet, and I started having very "tiny" relapses (3 pills once, than 2 weeks later, than one week later) and you know where I'm headed w/ this, right? I almost got back to where I was but I caught it, and now am in a program and doing it all differently. I thought if I took out the pills, things would get back to normal on their own. So...that's just my experience but I hope you are doing some type of aftercare so you can tell a person what you told us: just meet more recovering folks. They can help w/ what to say to your wife, for example.
Does she know about alanon?
Please take this as keep kickin' butt and I just wanted to help in w/ that "wobbly" feeling we have at the beginning:)
Oh, yes, and everyone told me go out and walk especially when you don't want to. Gotta get our natural endorphins back.
This is awesome!
You really do need to just FORCE yourself out into the world. The more active you are during the day, the better you will rest at night. It takes awhile. You gotta be patient (Su*ks I know, but so true)
Just keep moving forward day by day and before you know it you will be feeling amazing.
Are you doing any aftercare? (Sorry I can't remember)
You need as much support and as many outlets as possible to facilitate your recovery.
Proud of you...

CONGRATS DUDE.!!what an awesome feeling I know you have. your getting stronger every day, lots of sunshine gives me energy.i,m on day 23+ I,ve been drinking bevarages I have ,nt had in years tomato juice, v8,gatorade,i think they help with energy. fresh fruit is good. pretty soon your son will be chasing you. and you will have plenty of energy. I started out and hardly could walk out the house but now I get stronger every day and stay out in the sunshine as much as possible. this is a big deal 30 clean days. something to be proud of and I,m sure your family will be proud too. peace out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well.....well......just HOLLA!!!!! 30 DAYS CLEAN!!!! GO YOU!!!
You definitely should be so proud! We're proud of you, too!!!
If you're not on an AD (antidepressant)....you could try adding the amino acid L-Tyrosine to help with your energy levels. Sunshine and short walks or any movement accentuates the healing required to feel some natural energy again, too. If you don't find a small amount of imodium or pepto helps with the diarrhea....adding some fiber foods to your diet can help, too. Sleep is one of the last things to come for some people....I used all the nervine botanicals I could like: passion flower, lemon balm and valerian root. I also drank herbal teas like Tension Tamer, Chamomile and Sleeptime. Teas with peppermint or spearmint are VERY soothing to the tummy, too.
Melatonin or Alteril are both good natural sleep aides. I particularly liked the sublingual (under the tongue/dissolve) form of melatonin by Nature's Way. It has a "rapid cell" delivery and works faster and better, imo.
Hope you can share some of your newfound addiction knowledge you are gaining with your wife. Maybe help her to picture a set of scales....with 60 MONTHS on one side of the scales and then 1 MONTH on the other....kinda puts the healing required into some perspective for us, eh?
Hope you had an enjoyable 4th as well....FREEDOM RINGS!!!
Congrats!!!! I'm on day 60 off of Norco and still feel unmotivated at times. I want to do stuff, but it's so easy to lay around. Once I get going I'm fine though. Just got to make yourself get started. For me, once I get going I feel great. Again Congrats, and on to day 60 for you.
