i am addicted to both alchol and crack. i have been clean off crack for 3 months. although at nights i dream about crack.  i  have cut down on alchol instead of 12 pack a day i drink 24 oz every other day. and when i can't get the 24 oz i experience withdrawls can you help me get through this

i just moved here and don't know my way around. haven't had a drink since sat, mon had a very bad withdrawls thought i was going crazy. i had some coffee and it helped. it just is so hard because my children don't understand. although many years ago i beat meth. the crack seems to be subsiding it is just the alchol, especially having talked with my friends back home and they are drinking and i wish i didn't come here.

I have to agree. there are two drugs that are dangerous to detox from at home and alcohol is one of them. The dt's can get very nasty and you are subject to seizures.

If at all possible I suggest an in patient treatment center. If you cannot do that then do a short term (5 or 6 day) in patient detox. There they will give you Librium and monitor you. Please don't try this alone.

That is great your clean off crack for 3 months, it is a very tough drug to beat. Does the alcohol give you cravings for crack? I would suggest that you stop with the booze. How long have you been drinking? Alcohol w/d can be dangerous for heavy drinkers, but it sounds like you have cut back. Can you talk with your dr about this? Have you thought about some type of aftercare to help you stay clean? This is a great support group, so stick around. Best of luck.
