Just Venting

I feel like i am going crazy, everynight at 6 pm the cravings kick in strong. My daughter is crying about doing her homework and usually on Vicodin this would not upset me so much. My anxiety is thru the ceiling. Sometimes i wonder why i quit ..... I hope this will pass.

i totally understand everything you are saying!!  10 days is great!!  keep going, it does get better day by day!!  i babysit my little 2 year old niece 3-4 times a week currently and during the first 1 1/2 weeks of my w/d there were times when i was sooo fatigued and didn't feel like tending to her typical busy body toddler ways and would get so frustrated!!  she wanted me to walk up and down the stairs every 5 minutes on day 3 of w/d...  yeah, i was not a happy camper!!  but seeing that little smile makes my heart melt everytime!!  she was another reason why i knew i needed to stop the pills!!  day 31 clean i am now enjoying different things with her and seeing things in a different light when it comes to her.  just tickling her and making her laugh makes my day!!  going outside with her to pick flowers brings her soooo much joy and i love doing these things with her!!  i want to be around for her as long as possible!!

as totsie stated above during the first week of getting clean everything got on my last nerve as well!!  i hope you feel better and when something irritates you, just think of how you are actually bettering your life by being clean :)

jess :)

btw, did you quit cigs cold turkey??  i am trying to get my boyfriend to quit and he only lasts about 3 days until he starts back up again.  he has been smoking since he was 13, he is now 30.  i heard they say quitting smoking is like quitting herion??  his big problem is when he goes to work, everyone around him smokes and smelling the cig smoke makes him want one.  do you have any advice i can give him??

I think the drugs just numb us so much that when we are coming off them EVERYTHING seems so intense..I hope it gets better. I realize now that I was just so numb to anything and everything. I think my house could have been on fire and I would have been like..Oh bummer, maybe I should get out of here and call 911 or something" I do know the first week of getting clean everything got on my LAST nerve..Feel better..

I am 26 days into smoking quit :) yea me. But this vicodin kick has been the hardest to do. your right i did quit for all 3 of my children. I want to be alive to be thier mommy. Nothing worse than loseing your mommy at an early age.

Since this is a trigger for you, just do her homework yourself, lol. What we need to do is sometimes change patterns to avoid triggers and cravings. Mine were the strongest on friday's, it was so hard to not use then. Just remember cravings pass and getting support and talking about it will help. You know the reasons you quit, so don't let your addiction tell you otherwise. It's early on so everything is escalated, but it does get a lot easier. Stay strong and keep posting:)

I just posted on your journal.IT WILL PASS and it does get better. That little girl crying about doing her homework, take a good look at her, shes one of the reasons you quit.I know it gets stressful, trust me I do.I was raising 2 little granddaughters full time when I quit.Take some deep breaths, take a walk and leave the homework for a bit.Do whatever you need to in order to get through this hour without using.YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!! Peace...Kim

Hang in there, VENT ALL YOU WANT HERE...thats what it's for. I feel the same way sort've, only I'm on Day 5. Hey, you'll have some tough days and some easy days...first 1-2 weeks, you'll have more tough, the next 1-2 weeks, you'll have more easy days..

Hang in there. 10 DAYS is an AWESOME achievment. You quit for yourself, your daughter and for your own insanity...you dont want to live your life in a cloud for the rest of your life and walk your daughter down the aisle high on a pain pill...(i'm sure thats a few years away) but you have to quit now so you can TRULY enjoy life!!!

You will get better, just give it time...
