There are so many AD and they work in so many different ways...and like jacquii said...can take a while to even feel the effect...it may not be the right one for you but let your doctor know...and yes..i can relate...when i quit my doc i was not an automatic happy camper,,,still not....the issues are still there that we were covering up....aftercare is so important...perhaps i will have to live with these issues and cope in a different way...maybe they will go away..dont know...and doubt it...just know using was addinag more issues...
I know i have them same fears will sobriety actually be worse than some weight gain constipation, It would sux tapering only to find out your even more miserable. I tried Zoloft years ago hated the stuff sent me aggitated ,I think you will find most addicts have some kind of disorder, you would think Duel Diagnosis would be more talked about but i dont see alot about it on the net.
I really do think it's worth a call to the doctor about the Zoloft. It can't hurt.I hate to see you have to suffer more then need be.Perhaps a different antidepressent would make a difference.Best of luck to you.I'll send an extra prayer your way tonight. Peace.
Thanks to all of the above people for your concern. I'll try and hang in there.
I can only say that Zoloft may take a month to even start to have an appreciable difference in the way you feel. It may not even be the right dose for you, OR the right medication. Unfortunatley, I see all too often, that once something is prescribed for people, they have two problems:
1) the doctor prescribing the medication doesn't ask to follow up with the patient to evaluate the medication's effectiveness or to evaluate for side effects.
2) the patient doesn't discuss concerns, problems, or effectiveness with their doctor...
This is not your fault, I only mean that you shouldn't be trying to figure out what to do on your own with this medication or whether or not to take any others....give that doc of yours a call....like you don't have enough to deal with right? Cut yourself a break, and continue with the great decision you already made, to help yourself out by going to your doc in the first place. Please hang in there, both problems you mentioned can be tough alone, let alone together.
Is this the first time you've taken the Zoloft or have you been on it before? I'm asking because my husband is a recovering alcoholic, sober three years, his doctor put him on Zoloft when he had been clean for 14 months. He felt the same way.Unfortunately the Zoloft made his depression worse. It wasn't right for him.He was on it for a month. I can't remember the dose amount.I do remember his doctor made him taper off .I guess it shouldn't be stopped abruptly.I'm not sure if thats whats going on with you ,but maybe you should talk to your doctor about it.I know the Zoloft takes a while before it starts serving it's purpose.I wish I knew more to help you But I'm sure someone else will come along with answers for you.Hang in there.Peace.
Are you still there? Someone will help you soon!
I'm sorry i dont know about the addiction to beer that wasnt my DOC of choice but wanted to help by bumping you back up to the top so someone can help you.
good luck
