cough syrup

i m new here
ihad been taking cough syrup since 4 years as 3 to 5 bottees daily
but yesterday only i realised wheer i m heading so hav decided to quit n will inshallah
all i wanted was a bit help emotionally m3eans a company to discuss all thing who will understand what i m talking abt so i joined this community
it has started just today....
n will b accomplished inshallah
plz pray 4 me!!!
plz tell me if u know any thing related to this

i dont know anything about cough meds that youve been taking but if they are codeine(opiate) based you may be in for some physical withdrawals over the next week, you will find lots of helpful advice here on how to manage them. just wanted to wish you luck, louise

you can do this ,it will be rough for about a week but you can do it . Are you going to taper off or just stop taking it?

I just cant' figure out how one gets that many bottles of cough syrup.  Never heard of it being pushed on the streets, online or otherwise.  I guess you can get anything you want if you want it bad enough........I don't how much codeine is in the syrup.....ratio, but a few bottles a day......you will definitely have withdrawals......how bad?  i wish I had the answer.

Usually there is 3-8 mg's of codeine per 5ml which is USUALLY the recomended serving.  The w/d's shouldn't be too bad, but I never drank 3 to 5 bottles a day.  Put it in perspective a bottle of Atuss or Tussionex is the strongest syrup you can get, and one bottle of it made me feel like I had done 5 30 mg roxy's (oxycodone HCL).

You will want to treat the cough syrup just as you would codeine pills or another narcotic. Look up the Thomas Recipe (lower right of page) and try to follow it. The Amino Acid Protocol is also very good and valid. This can be done. It is not easy nor fun - but it is doable........best of luck to you - keep reading the forum and posting questions. today i took 1 bootle to normalise my self as i was having major headace
but my intention were just to normalise myself
that bloody ******* shopkeeper started laughing when i asked 4 1 bootle saying u cant quit this boy!!!!
i felt like killing that *******!!!!
but i remained calm as more of my concern is on quitting this thing
i m feeling very desperate!!!!

Don't feel desperate, you can do this Northkhan.  You went 2 days without it and that is a huge start in the right direction.  Today you made a mistake and we all make the same mistakes.  Just forgive yourself, don't take anymore and move on.

Ignore the shopkeeper!  God will help you, God loves you.

No, you are not useless. Don't put yourself down! You are addicted to the stuff, that's all. It is often much more powerful than the human will. Sometimes, even the best intentions aren't enough.

But, this can still be done! You have some options.

You can give it another try. And another until you get through it. Maybe now that you have seen what it can be like you can prepare better, both mentally, psychologically, and practically (stock up on supplies: Thomas recipe, amino acids, something to help you sleep, whatever folks suggest that you think might help you).

Or you can seek professional help, depending on what's available to you (I don't know your situation).

Time to do some soul searching. Wishing the best for you.

Maybe thats the thing to do  . Cut back a little at a time. Maybe trying to go without is to much after taking it that long. Try to cut back a little every few days. Good luck to you and God bless you

Tapering worked well for me. Maybe that is the best way to do it. The slower the better. You will feel less withdrawal symptoms.

You can do this. You are strong enough to do it. You are smart enough to do it. You have recognized the problem and you are acting on it. Decide whether you wish to taoer or stop cold turkey. Look under the Health Discussion Pages (link at right hand side of page) and pay attention to the Thomas Recipe and the Amino Acid Protocol. They wull help tremendously. And good luck to you.....
