day 1...again

I attempted to quit roxicodone for the first time a few days ago with no luck.  By the 2nd morning I couldn't take it.  So today I am trying again.  Does anyone have any advice on how to get through this unbearable hell?!  The sweating and freezing at the same time is awful and the back and leg pain!  I also have no support at home.  I really just want to get through this and move on with my life.  Help me please!!!!!!

We can all help in different ways but it is mostly conjecture. The truth is that what we can offer most is support. Other than that we can only say what worked for us. You have to dig down and find that inner strength that tells the drug,"I am stronger than you and you are on your way out." Sure you will feel all sorts of things that make you want to shy away from withdrawal. That is your body doing it's best to defeat your brain. You are in a fight that has no specific number of rounds. You just have to keep slugging away and letting your opponent,  the drug,  know that you are a tough customer and that you intend to win at any cost. Once you win you will find yourself seeing a world that you forgot existed. The bleakness will be gone and a feeling of euphoria will take it's place.  You got knocked down in the first round, you got up and refused to throw in the towel. That is the mark of a fighter who says," Bring it on baby, there is more to me than you know." I will not say, "Don't give up,'  because I feel that you are not easily defeated.

It has helped me to understand from the beginning that I was going to feel pretty bad for 4-5 days from the get go. Look at it as if you can see the end. Make a plan and get the things that you will need for detox like Lesa mentioned above. Time goes so slow during detox that I found if I planned small things that I was going to make myself do like going for a walk, watching a movie, getting out for a drive. You will not likely feel like doing these things but you have to make yourself. It will help pass time as well. 4-5 days is not a very long time in the scheme of things. Post everyday and let us know how you are and we will help you through this. You CAN do this. Corey

Congrats on trying again !! Get the attitude going that you are in a war a war for your Life with no room for failure.. Hot/baths showers.. Epsom salt in the bath helps with muscle pain.. Motrin really works.. Heating pad walking even just a lil will help with anxiety and help to clear the head.. the Thomas recipe as suggested.. I have found a few Natural products like Valerian Root for anxiety was very helpful.. Hylands Restful leg for the restless leg helps.. I bought a knock off you can find these at a drug store Imodium if you have bathroom issues.. make sure to drink fluids you do not want to become dehydrated.. eat a lil at a time. if you can not eat get some ensure you need to keep nutrients going.. Keep posting on the forum for support.. You can do this !! Freedom from drugs is awesome !! lesa

There really is no secret in quitting...you're going to have to REALLY want to quit...yeah, there are things to help with WDs (see Thomas Recipe), but it really takes someone to dig down deep inside and just want it bad enough...

The good news is, although you were unsuccessful your first time around, you didnt give up and you're back at it...

When you say you dont have any support @ home, does that mean you live alone or no one knows, etc? Can you go to an AA or NA meeting?

Obviously, we're all here to help ya...you CAN get through it...it's not impossible, although it seems like that at times...

Hang in there...
