You are so,so close to being better, just keep in mind the thing we hear so much about is the methadone half life, if we were talking about regular opiates you would have been better two days ago, but of course methadone detoxs take a bit longer, 7 days maybe less maybe more? But you are almost thier, & I hope that when my day comes for me to be done with my methadone { March 31st last mg }, I can look into this forum & know that their truly is life after methadone, as you did it, why cant I ? You will be a inspirtation for all of us trying to kick methadone out of our lives. Take Care Penelope

It will get better...i promise...your blood pressure is going to continue to sky rocket up until at least day 11.  You should take that seroquil if you haven't already...anyone you know of that could give you clonidine?  Methadone withdrawl lasts a lot longer than that of regurlar opiates...BUT it still won't kill you....however i am concerned for you blood pressure....you have been on it for 4 years so i must admit i am a tad worried....please keep posting...your hubby can expect NOTHING for the next 4 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell him to look up methadone withdrawl and he will understand!!! IT's not like coming off vicoden, percocet or even heroin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     I had my sweetie research it and the moment he did he was like a servant to me.....trust me....they describe it in detail and he will get an idea of what its like!! .....How are you feeling? Have you slept at all?

take the seroquel!  me and my boyfreind have detoxed from a bad heroin habit about 15 times and the best thing ever that i found the last time was seroquel- and it does help with anxiety no matter what ppl say- in my area the hospital detox prescribes it to everyone coming off of opiates and sends it home with them to take during the day while your awake to relax u and at night to make u sleep- anyway- we just continuously took seroquel for 6 days striaght and slept 23 out of 23 hours each day

do you have a TV in the room? i found that watching Christian television really helped me.  God always had something to say that related to what i was going through.  i also quit methadone.  it is the hardest of all, but i am so glad to be free of that stuff.  9 months clean!!  you can do it too.

I've been withdrawing from Hydrocodone now for 2 wks. getting better I think, just have to hang in there and tough it out, don't let others bother you, they should be helping you, it's a noble act you sacrificing here, no one understands except us that have been through it.

Do you take seraquil on a regular basis?  I mean under a doctor's care?  That is not really a drug for anxiety or anything....I guess you are familiar with it?

The thing is, it does get better. But it gets better only a little bit each day. I wish I could tell you that you get to a certain day- like day 6 or something- and bam- you're all back to your good old self- but I have found out the hard way- it's a small incremental healing each day.
You really do need to take quality multivitamins and broad spectrum amino acids- a lot of them. They are the two building blocks of the Thomas recipe- so if you can only afford them- it will be worth it.

I'll bet if he gets hungry enough he will find a way to feed himself. :-)

Good luck- just try to focus on anything other than how you are feeling (ha-ha, right?)  Hopefully getting out of the house and moving around will help.  I wish you the best luck. I'm off myself. My 6 year old is home with me today. I had to get him to the doctor and then get him an RX for an ear infection. Not sure how I was able to do it, but somehow you find the strength to do what you have to.

Take care of yourself, and try taking the bag of ice to bed with you.  It really helps me with the sweats.  Stay strong and be good to yourself.

yes he does know what i am going through and he wants me off of the methadone severly. He doesn't ask much of me because he knows what and how I am feeling. except for today...he just came in and said "no supper" i said well i am not feeling up to it today...he said "you have to make yourself get up off of that couch and do things and get your mind off of it" i agree with him it's just so hard no energy and I am already anxious i can't drink caffeine at all even before I was on methadone. lack of energy and this sweating stuff is for the birds. I have to go to my sisters house I have to muster up some kind of energy to go over there (drama house). my fiance works on computers to make extra $ and he won't let me stay home...i took a seroquel that might help eh?

I think you have every right to be angry.  I lost my baby brother to a heroin OD, my dad to a heart attack, my favorite uncle to lung cancer and my grandmother (who was just old and it was her time) within a two year period. It totally sucked and I was really angry for a long time. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it can be to deal with such sadness and pain.  Have you tried therapy? Sounds cheezy but it may help to have someone work through the pain with you.

I also think (just me personal thoughts mind you- I'm no expert) that the anger can keep you either in the addiction or can make it easier to turn back to the drugs once you kick them.  I've struggled with addiction to various stuff my entire life so that is my personal experience speaking.  It's good that you have your fiance, hopefully you can lean on him for some extra support?

Sleeping- well that is the jackpot, isn't it?  I can usually sleep for about 6 hours if I take the NyQuil and the Tylenol PM.  It's not a lot, and I can't sleep at all during the day but it really helps.  I usually wake up during that 6 hours, but if I keep quiet and try to keep my mind from working me over I can usually go back to sleep.

Glad the bath helped.  Stay strong and keep with it.  Does your fiance know what you are dealing with??

how long can you sleep..... i'd rather sleep all the way through this sh**, it's too much to take at times. I just got up and took a bath. it's helping a little..it was getting kinda funky..ya know?....my fiance will be home in a few. i have been home by myself all day..i am everyday for that matter. I don't work right now because of the death of both parents in less than a year. that has a lot to do with my anger i think what do you think about being so angry all of the time?......

I take NyQuil and Tylenol PM to sleep.  Sounds stupid, right? But it has helped me get some sleep and some peace.  I don't have all the vitamins and stuff that I know will help, but have been drinking a lot of gatorade and water.  I just keep telling myself that if it was the flu I would just have to deal with it so why should this be any different?

Maybe the sleeping pill is worth a shot??  Oh, I also try to meditate and "chant" sometimes.  I can totally relate to the mind trick thing. I can really work myself over with my crazy random thoughts.  I try to pick a positive phrase and just keep repeating it to myself to keep my mind from running away. Geesh- I sound like a loon but I swear it helps.

You CAN do it!!!

Are you having the hot/cold/hot/cold thing?  I have been moving between BURNING up and FREEZING for several days now.  I keep an ice pack with me and a heating pad.  It really helps to put the ice pack on the back of the neck when you are in the hotter than he double hockey sticks mode. :-)

Try to get in a shower.  You may think you don't have the energy to do it, but all you have to do is sit there. It will really help you feel better.  I found a good hot or cold shower depending on my temperature of the moment and a clean t-shirt (courtesy of my husband) every couple of hours really made me feel a little more human.

Hang in there- you are doing a great job and it will get better!

It will definitely get better. Tomorrow or Sunday is when you will notice. Its usually day 5 that people start to feel better from the physical withdrawals. I know its hard but try to get up and moving as much as possible. Drink a lot of fluids and take ibuprofen and immdioum if needed. Take vitamins as well. You are so close to feeling better. Hang in there and keep posting. It does help.
