I am new to this community but so far have found it very helpful!! Just wanted to introduce myself & my story. I'm 28 yrs old, on methadone maintenance because I had an injury that got me prescribed to lortabs for several years & I ended up getting highly addicted to them to the point I was taking 20-80 a day. Have been at clinic for almost 2 years now, got all the way up to 150 mgs because they kept telling me to go up & that would solve my "not feeling right." Anyways, I started detoxing about 4-5 months ago & am down to 109 mgs. So far I haven't had any real issues with the detox. I have stopped to take a break twice but my main issue is anxiety. some of the stories on here has freaked me out but I think doing the detox the way I have been, I wont suffer a lot of w/ds. At least that's what I'm hoping for & telling myself. Would like any advice or tips possible?!?! Thanks!! :)

Okay, those stories of months and months of torture, like mine, are from years of use and/or high doses. If you follow your plan it will be much better than you have read about. That drugs builds up in fat and bone, but a short time at relative low dose is on your side. I do suggest some meetings, counseling, church, or whatever you feel will help put your mind at ease and understand how you ended up in this situation. If you g
Had a hefty habit before Mdone, that can work against you too, depends on what and how much you took. Your lower dose of Mdone makes me think your previous habit was not too bad. I feel good about you. Keep posting and make some friends around here through this process. I think you will not have it too bad, if you get out now.

The length of withdrawal is usually the same for most of us, the severity is definitely less with a good taper. Your plan sounds good. The longer you are at a low dose the better. No matter how it works out, if you are off that drug in the end, I promise it will be worth it. How long were you taking methadone? That makes a difference. Also, get a protein shake, multi vit, cal/mag/zinc and EmergenC to help with symptoms and healing. Try not to anticipate how you will feel. Our mind can make it worse than it has to be. I can't tell you how much a positive attitude and complete surrender to the process is. I remember taking 150mgs of dones and would have physical withdrawal symptoms in a couple hours because I had none for the next day. You will be fine, convince yourself of that and do what you need to take care of yourself. I'm so glad you are with us, now let's do this.
