does suboxone really help?

Hi everyone...I was about to go cold turkey from oxycodone, but I've been reading about suboxone and I'm curious.  I'm currently on 30 mg of oxycodone daily and I know I need to stop.  I have tried and felt horrible with withdrawls and I keep giving in.  I want some info. On suboxone.  What is it exactly? Does it substitue oxycodone by making you free of withdrawal symptoms? Or does it give you some type of high? Does it have side effects that any of you have experienced? I read the site for the med , but it seems too good to be true.  I appreciate any feedback you can share-positive or negative .  I want to know if it is worth going that route.  I really want to get my life back together...thank you guys for all of your help. All of your knowledge, experiences, and support/ kindness are so valuable to me.  Thanks guys!

Thank you guys for all of your advice. I will look into the thomas recipe.  I have never heard of that.  I will also try to use another method before suboxone.  I obtained some suboxone and have it with me.  I was about to start it, but your opinions have made me think twice about going that route.  I will work on tapering out, working on my mind, and looking for alternate methods.  Thanks for the warm welcome.  You guys are amazing !

First off let me start by saying welcome.  Also, you should really think about seeking advice from a professional before making any decision like this.

What is it exactly? - It is a combination of 2 drugs and one part of it is an opiate so you are basically trading one opiate for another.  The other part attaches to the opiate receptors in your brain so you basically don't get high (or crave) on opiates anymore.

Does it substitue oxycodone by making you free of withdrawal symptoms? Or does it give you some type of high? - You will withdrawal form suboxone but it is 10 times easier than a full opiate withdrawal because it is longer lasting than a full opiate.  Yes you will feel high especially if you take a big dose.

Does it have side effects that any of you have experienced? - Look it up on webmd website or something for side effects.

Again, you should seek counseling before making a decision.  Good luck and God bless.

agree with abritt....sub is just not a smart choice for ur dose///for some it is//keeps them off the streets, outta jail and away from needles...i have seen 300 mg oxy users stop the way abritt mentioned
Alot of this is mental...a 30 mg dose is a prescribed dose//very likely u could flush the rest u have a go for it with only minor physical ailments //if any///but the definition of addiction is allowing ur DOC to control u///and even at ur low dose///ur mind will have a much harder time "letting go" than u will have physically///and ur mind may be playing games with u now...dont let it!..
keep us posted and learn as much as u can bout where u r at and how to get to where u wanna be......hang tight

I agree I don't think suns r for u I have never used them but have friends that have and they swear by them but line the other post said they were taking Hugh amounts of oxy
I was taking anywhere from 150-200mg of oxy a day and I did it without subs. With u only taking 30mg a day wd's shouldn't b to bad and shouldn't last very long u should loom up the Thomas recipe and go that route cause it worked for ne and I was taking 7 times more than u a day I'm not sayin it was easy or that it knocked all of the wd's out but it did help so give it a shot bro I think that is ur best bet
good luck bro and send me a MSG if u got any questions and I will help u as much as I can

a 30 mg oxy user...as a rule..would get a high or an nrg buzz from sub...i was a 100 mg hydro user and 1-2 mgs of sub sent me flying for the day..not high...just very happy//take that back  "high"

! mg of sub is equal to 20-30 mgs of oxy///ceiling effect of sub makes it a bt different...but it is so much stronger than what u r taking now

What have u tried so far???there is no way out of this without work///sub will help wds///u will probably even feel better as a 30 mg user....thing is sub is addictive//very much so and peeps have he11 coming off the stuff if taken over 3 weeks or so,,,sticky drug//wds are long......sub is usuallychosen for those with very strong DOCs like heroin or very high quantity users for many years...but we r all different
I am sure u could find a dr to give a 30 mg oxy user sub..they r out there looking at the cash aspect...

the health pages r full of great info..ways to stop////experiences by members with sub..stick around and post with us....And keep the thought of stopping strong in ur mind//cos it may not always be a 30 mg habit....be safe
