doing it again

hey friends.  it's been a long time, about 4 months since i was in here.  i am still clean from the methadone, but tapering off the norco again.  still don't know what to do about the pain, but it is such a bummer to be hooked on anything.  i function a lot better on the norco than the methadone, but it's still dope, and i want to be free from it all.  can't take anti-inflammatories, so the pain iwwue is going to be huge.  hope i can stay off.  just don't know about the pain.

PS  how is Hope doing.  i have been thinking of her a lot lately, but haven't had a puter to check in on till this week.

I found that the pills were no longer helping my pain...I just do not think narcotics are good for chronic conditions like mine...the tolerence is just too much, too quick...I managed mine for years with chiropractic, massage, anti-inflammatores at times, yoga, muscle relaxers at times...the best thing for mine is 20 minutes of ice off and on throughout the day...I have had this problem for 20 years and just started taking lortabs 2 years ago

i never signed it, and am tapering myself off.  i told him cause i wanted to get another way to help me with the pain, and he just focused on the other stuff.  i told him i wasn't asking for pain meds, i was asking for an alternae treatment and he just focused on the contract.  thinking of changing dr.s.  i need help to find another type of treatment for my back pain, not a way to get more pills.

I'm on the same type of "pain contract" with my doctor.  You're right... it's a little humilitating singing that thing but my doctor also told me that when it was time he would help me slowly come off the meds.  It was an "unwritten" part of the agreement.  Will your doctor help you in the same capacity?

Is this new doctor taking you off the Norco? Are there other pain meds that aren't addictive? There has to be alternitives to opiates that aren't as addictive.

i was hooked on methadone, and it almost destroyed me.  i do need something for the pain, but my hubby remembers the methadone and it scares both of us that i am addicted to the norco.  it's a viscious cycle.  the dr i started going to after moving to another state makes a person feel like they are a criminal if they need pain meds.  you have to sighn an agreement about not getting them from anyone else, alwys getting them from the same pharmacy etc.  makes you feel lower than a snakes belly.  not used to being treated like that.  the pain is legitimate, as he can tell by looking at the MRI results.  oh well.  i made the mistake of telling him about the methadone addiction, also taken for the pain, and that was all it took.

I'm home alone all day too. As soon as you get over the worst of the withdrawals you have to find things to fill your day with. Having the disc problems and arthritis is tough I'm sure. Addiction is not a piece of cake either. If you have such bad pain maybe you need the pain medicine. It really doesn't sound like you are on a high dose or abusing it. I would not normally say that but if you have pain you may need some of the pain medicine. But I feel there is some reason you want of get off the meds and that it may be more of a problem that you are aware of. Be strong

the pain is from severly detieriorating discs and arthritis in my lower back.  i did the methadone wd's, 8 months ago, so i know i can do this.  i am down to three norco a day, from 6 a week ago, so i am on track.  start with 2 pills a day tommorrow.  i have it measured out in a two week med doser, and am following it quite well.  i have made it so i can't get any more, cause i know that is the only way i will be strong enough to do it.home alone all day, and that makes it harder. and the pain makes it easy to rationalize taking the meds.  hope i can stay clean and handle the pain.

Honey, It's such a hard thing to addiction to break. You have to make your mind up though. Why do you have pain. You know the withdrawals make any pain much worse but that gets better with time. Can you take any benzos like xanax or valium to get you through the rough part of withdrawals.
