Hi everyone! So I have been GREAT until today ..I have a really bad sinus infection and have been hurtin so bad, anyways the Dr gave me some lortab 7.5 for my severe head congestion/headache so I broke down and took a half of one, which really did do much but I honestly didn't want to take it,just couldn't take the pain anymore. However, that was 4 hrs ago and I still have no desire to take the other half much less the rest of the presciption...Does this mean I relapsed even if I only took a half of a 7.5 so technically 3.5???? Am I back to day 1?? I don't feel like I am but am in need of other's opinion

Thanks for the info littlebit.  I am a chicken when it comes to putting anything thru my nose.  Right now my nose hurts so much that it probably will hurt some.  I will check it out the next time I am at CVS.

It does not hurt...just a strange feeling when you use it.  Strange only because we do not usually have water in that space!  Really does work for a  lot of people!

The Neti Pot sounds interesting.  I can't stand the thought of water going through my nose.  Will let you try it first and let me know if it hurts or not.

Sinus infection is still lingering around, thinking of going back to the Dr but telling him NO PAIN MEDS just antibiotics and steroids!! And Ann I do believe it is some what related to the WD process,I have a friend that's in a Bradford rehab and I spoke with her briefly and she said pretty much every one in there also WD from opiates are sick as well..I guess with all of the stress etc that comes along with WD lowers our immune system and makes us  a comprimised host!!! Thanks for the suggestions,I will be looking into the Neti pot

Hi mama,Glad you are not taking those.Great job on that. You may see if you could get a short course of more steroids.
I am not sure but I think that when we go into withdrawal our bodies become so wrung out from it that it weakens us and our immune systems.

Thanks for everyone's comments!!! Still very sick but will not resort to anymore tabs.Does anyone have any recommendations for treating a sinus infection?? Nothing has seemed to work...And why does deroxing from opiates lower our immune system(out of curiosity)?

So glad you got rid of the rest of the pills.  Taking 1/2 of a pill is nothing.  I also got a terrible sinus infection.  It lasted 10 days.  I thought I was going to die.

Mama, your doing great. Your not back to day 1. You took a small amount for pain and then stopped. We all know what going back to day 1 entails.
Anyone struggling with drug addiction breaks my heart. I mean most people who are drug addicts are awesome people but don't see it. At least you are working towards loving yourself.

Your body is dealing with a lot of stress while detoxing.  More stress equals lowered immunity...lowered immunity equals illness.  Ah, the fun life of an addict!  :)

Totally agree, great way to put it!! I have a close friend in rehab right now and it absolutely breaks my heart..I sit back and think dang that could be me..Her hydrocodone addiction led to a cocain addiction on top of it..Now she's 4 hours away from friend, family, and most importantly her daughter..Lucky enough I was strong enought to say the hell with it!! I'm in college and going into the medical field, hearing about liver and kidney failure due to this drug scared the heck out of me enough to put them down!!

The problem is,they give us these scripts with the direction to take them every few hours like they are a real medicine that is treating our illness. In actuality it's like giving a crack addict ten pieces of crack and the directions on when to smoke it.

No...You're good. There will be no racing thoughts or heartbeat.I have taken a couple before after being clean a short time. There was no adverse affects at all.The problem is when you take a couple more then more and more.Don't worry you dodged a bullet thats all

Thanks..I'm proud of myself too but also I wish I would not have taken that half but o.well whats done is done..When I say I'm terrified I'm so serious..I had horrible panick attacks, racing heart, and high blood pressure all due to withdrawls and those are the same very things I am scared will happen again..But 3.5 is not much...right?? I hope to be feeling better soon..Thanks again

Good mama,That is so smart of you to get rid of those.I had a really bad sinus infection a few years ago and I told them no painkillers. The steroid took away most of the pain by the next day so I hope that it does it for you too.Did he also give you antibiotics? If so,they will help soon too.I am glad you tossed those things.Great that you are terrified of the withdrawals. For some reason my brain won't let me remember how bad they were.I read in a book that said the reason why you forget the withdrawal is because the primitive part of our brain hijacks certain functions of our memory like how someone would not be able to completely remember the pain of childbirth so they will not be afraid to have more children.Who knows?I wish I could vividly remember it though. You did the right thing,,I am proud of you

I was so scared of taking 1 so that's why I halfed it..He gave me a shot of a steroid and a prescription for 10 tabs but I got rid of them so I wouldn"t be tempted to take another 1/2 or 1..I never want to be dependent on them again but at this point after going through all of the withdrawls I am terrified of them!!!

No you are not back at day 1 but you will be if you continue to take these.I would ask if he can give you a steroid like prednisone for this sinus infection. The steroid will stop the inflammation and thus stop the pain.I would not take any more of these. This seems to be a recurring theme today.Aleve, tylenol, anything but the opiates. It is too early to be taking these.
