employment with rehab

So i am 6 months off a 4 year addiction to hydrocodones and also unemployed. I came across a job working in law enforcement. It would be people coming to you that have gotten in trouble with drug use and you are something like a parole officer but not with the authority, mostly gathering information and helping them out. Has anyone ever been involved in charges against them for drug use? Is this system a big farce and bad trip? Once we are clean should we just stay away from this kind of thing forever? One part of me would really like to help others out very much. And another part says stay the hell away from it.

Personally...i would love it...but we are all different...i would find it so rewarding and it would very possibly serve as a reinforcement for me to stay clean...but i am a nurse so helping people is part of my job now...it helps me to help others...again everyone is different

My daughter abused Oxycotin, then detoxed from Methadone. She is now in college, working towards her Master's in Social Work. She recently decided that she will use her education/degree to become a Drug Counselor, as she feels her experience with addiction and recovery could help others. If your past doesn't include anything that might exclude you from the job you are considering, I would advise you to  apply, and if you get the job, use your experinece with additction/getting clean to help others recover from their problems.

helping others can't hurt a thing........but if you're not happy in that line of work....... you'll be very unhappy and not fulfilled..........try it and see how you like it....."C"

Do a search on Google too. Some things like that are OK, some are not.

Yea, just getting pretty broke here and trying to find a job that i know something about.
Use to work in production. CNC operator and with my back, just cannot do it. That is what got me into all the trouble with the pain killers. Ha, did it for 5 years too. The money wasn't bad, but i cannot go to work on a handful of pills anymore.
