Fentynel Withdrawals

I went to the ER with a herniated disc and spent 8 days in the hospital. While there, the doctor started me on Fentynel 75MCG for the pain I was having. I eventually started to taper down and stopped taking at 25MCG and started the withdrawals. I was on the patch for less than a month. I am on clonidine and that has stopped the awful sweats and helps me sleep. But I have no appetite, the anorexia phase, and no sense of taste. How long does this typically last? I'm on day 5 of the withdrawals.

Hi Ben, get some Ensure! I lived on that stuff for the first week. Stay hydrated with Ensure, Gatorade, and water. Check out the Thomas Recipe and get the vitamins/supplements listed to help you with anxiety, skin crawls, and energy. You're doing great and should begin to feel better very soon! Keep posting and letting us know how you're doing!

Is there anything I can do to help myself through the loss of appetite phase. It is so hard to maintain any energy. Also, my anxiety level is pretty high and I don't like to be alone. Is that a normal? My wife has been great and hasn't left my side but I'm not normally the emotional needy type.

Fentynel is some bad stuff and I will NEVER use it again. Thanks for your reply to my post. - Ben

You should almost be at the end of the withdrawal process and at this point, your body is looking for its baseline.  Once your body starts producing natural endorphins, your senses, thermostat and energy will likely return to normal.  Give yourself another week to recover and everything will get better from here on.
