excessive sweating?????

I am a 51yo woman who suffered severe injuries when I felt from a 3rd floor balcony in January 2013.  I was given OxyCotin 20mg two times per day.  I take medication as prescribed as I have been in recovery for 6 years.  Recently I have found myself profusely sweating and went to the doctor just this week to address the problem.  He indicated that the sweating could be caused by a number of things; menopause, recently developed high blood pressure as well as my break thru pain which I take nothing else for.  It is summer and I FEEL THE HEAT SOMETHING awful.  Because  I take my medicine only as prescribed-could it be adding to my problem of excessive sweating?  I have been on this med for 19 months and just started with the sweating in May 2014.  I welcome your feedback and thank you in advance.

i am going to assume that the oxy you are taking is marked with 'OP' on one side??
i have read a lot lately (my doc just put me on those and they do not work at all) and it seems the 'new tamper proof formula' has cancer causing toxins in them.  there are several articles online about them causing ulcers and gi problems.
also, the excessive sweating could be withdrawal symptoms.  yeah, i know, 'how can i be going through withdrawal while still on them'?
as your tolerance grows, so does the NEED for your body to increase the amount you take.  happens to anyone taking long term opiates.
i fell off a roof so i UNDERSTAND your pain.  so if going off opiates is not an option, maybe change your meds to something else

Well, as a 49yr old I've recently come to the conclusion that 50 is the new 25. (I'm counting on it ;)

Is the colonoscopy (Yaaay, indeed!) for suspected endo or other suspected uterine issues? A dear friend of mine just had one. Wishing you the best!

Thanks for your feedback.  I totally forgot about another health issue which is causing abdominal pain, cramp, a few other unpleasant things accompanied with a fever.  The doctor ordered a colonoscopy (Yeahhhh!!!)  Seriously I should be in the best health ever but you can not stop the hands of father time or mother nature.  Who said that fifty is the new thirty?  Thanks again for your support and being sober is the best gift I ever gave myself.

I'd say welcome to menopause.

Hi there & thanks for posting,

Oxycodone/Oxycontin can most definitely cause excessive sweating as a side-effect. I would hazard however, that if you didn't experience these symptoms last summer while taking it after your accident that it's perhaps more likely peri-menopause/menopause, high blood pressure &/or some other undetermined cause. I've noticed that as my body changes, I react differently to certain chemicals, medications & foods. If this issue is really affecting your comfort levels, maybe your Dr. can sort out the cause(s). Good luck & Congrats on your 6 yrs. of recovery! :)
