Tramadol help

My friend has been abusing tramadol.  He overdosed on anti-anxiety meds at the same time.  He is in Behavioral Health Department now.  He has been there for almost two weeks.  He has many of the symptoms of addicition to
tramadol.  I think he may have taken as much 300-400 mg per day.  He is on a variety of psychotropic meds for these conditions also... OCD, Agoraphobia, Depression, Bi-Polar Disorder.  They are evaluating him.  I know it is a hard question to answer.  Given all this, can anyone estimate how long it might be until he bagins to recover from the tramadol.  I know that if he doesn't exhibit some improvement before long, he will be sent to state hospital in Anna, Illinois.  He is now at SMGSI in Centralia , Illinois.  (smgsi.org)

I would appreciate any help.  I know he is in good hands right now.  I want to help how I can, but not get in the way of his recovery.  I would just appreciate some of your wisdom on the subject.  It is crucial.  Thanks.

I agree with danners when it comes to being involved.Research, ask questions, stay well informed. There are alot of us here that had we educated ourselves about certain drugs and not just taken what the doctors gave us,because afterall they're the doctor they're supposed to help ,perhaps we wouldn;t be in the situation we're in now.You will find a huge amount of knowledge here.Who better to ask then the person whos been there  done that?Hang in there. Peace.

Withdrawal from Tramadol varies from person to person. The thing about Tramadol is that it's classifies as a quasi Narcotic or an antagonist rather than an agonist like most narcotic Painkillers. It's only meant for short term pain relief and isn't meant to be taken for long periods of time. Although lately alot of doctors have been prescribing it for long periods of time, mostly to people with Arthritus who cant handle the severity of other stronger narcotics. It may take up to a few months for him to fully fecover from the Tramadol. Especially because of the dose he was taking. 400 mg of Ultram (Tramadol) is alot. But thr real killer are those Psyche drugs he's being put on. I would look more into that, and you be apart of his prognosis, that's your right. Do your homework, find out what they are putting him on, and be apart of. you may or may not like some of the side affects that some of the drugs he's on produce. Well I hope I've been able to help a little....Good luck, Peace and love!
