Hey there Tanya-
Good move going to the Er. I hope you are resting now and they got your hydration up and gave you some things to make you more comfortable. The dark coloured vomit and the high fever were alarming to me. Please post when you come around and let us know how you are.
Hugs,
Lu
Oh...I guess things got unmanageable there; so glad you went to the ER!! There's absolutely no shame in that and I'm sure you're being treated with the respect you deserve.
Let's us know how you are, okay? Very proud of you...
please keep us posted...you are in my thoughts!
Good move going to the ER. Like mentioned, everyone's w/ds are different, but when the symptoms are severe, and you cannot manage them yourself to an extent, it's time to seek some help.
You did great trying to get ahead of the w/d....the hospital will get you rehydrated, and will probably give you anti-nausea medications that will help a lot, and possibly some meds to help with the w/d, like clonidine. Make sure you're 100% honest with the medical staff. You have nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about.
Best to you, be sure to post an update when you can. We're all anxious to see how you're doing.
Ok let them know you are detoxing.
Let us know how you are doing
Praying for you
Deb ie
Yea that's what I'm gonna do right now
I would probably go to ER just for IV hydration if you are still puking .
I'm heading to the hospital cause I'm too sick to do this alone... Thank you all for everything!! Helped a lot
I'm soo tired from being sick al day and all I wanna do is sleep
I spoke too soon.. Throwing up is back and more brutal then before! I'm trying really hard to eat and drink, but everything is soo gross to me right now... But all I really want is to sleep..
That is great news. Just want we want to hear.
Now continue to try to sip on Gatorade, ginger ale,
You need to replenish your minerals. Eat some crackers. Slowly.
Epsom salt baths are good for rls. And will help push magnesium back into your muscles.
I have started drinking Gatorade and so far it's staying down... I just hope the puking is over.
My fever is going down and I haven't thrown up in like 15 or 20 mins. That's the longest I've gone all day without getting sick
Hun if you don't stay hydrated and out some electrolytes back into your system you will definitely dehydrate and have to go to the ER.
Please try to force yourself to get something in.
Do you have fever?
I'm still not able to keep anything down but I'm trying.. I can't eat either it's just too hard right now. Everything is really gross to me so if I try to eat or drink it just makes me sick.
What will help with my legs being all restless.. At this point it's the worst part right now. It's driving me crazy, is there anything I can take that would take the RLS away?
The vision issues and arms being numb are signs of dehydration
. How high is your fever? Have you been able to take sips of liquids every 10 mins or so and keep it down? Sucking on ice chips? Gatorade, ginger ale? Have you been able to eat crackers?
It is great your friend was able to come over.
Praying for you.
Keep the faith.
Tanya, no need to be a saint, go to the hospital if you want to. So glad your friend is there w/ you. Please do tell them that you're detoxing.
From what you said, you are at 36 or 38 hrs into wds. You are in the worst.
Please let us know how you are. I really feel for you.
I'm starting to get really really sick now... My friend is keeping an eye on my fever and she also said that the color of my puke is dangerous... It's really dark and looks unhealthy.. But I still feel like I can do this at home and not have to go to ER.. Although my friend says if I get any worse she will make me go because she's really worried about how I am doing right now...
Thank you again everyone.. This is so hard and reading you're messages is helping me soo much!!
Hey chicky.....great advice above....get to emerg if your able .....dehydrating is not helping....prayers here girl. Hugs, strength .
I'm starting to get kinda nervous though cause my arms are going numb and are so heavy and my vision is all blurred and fading.. I'm hoping that's just because I'm tired and weak from all of this, but my friend says I don't look good at all and she wants to take me to the hospital now.
I'm gonna wait a few more hours before going to emergency.. I wanna see if the gravel I've been trying to take worked at all.
The puking is the worst part... And the restlessness. My friend is on her way here because I'm extremely sick right now. My fever is getting higher and I'm puking way more now, I'm thinking I'll probably go to the hospital in a few hours if the puking hasn't stopped a bit.. I have been trying to take gravel but I'm throwing up every 3-5 mins.. Just dry heaving now though.. I'm gonna try and do this as long as I can because I don't wanna go to the hospital.. Thank you all for everything.. It makes it a little easier when other people have been threw it and can relate..
hey sweetie-
Yes you're in acute w/d and it ***** big time. I jumped off of 100 mg of oxy and 40 mg of hydro and it was really rough. I used Gravol. I'm in Canada so not sure if the brand name is the same in the US.
Also- pedialyte. It's what they give to babies when they dehydrate. Extremely hydrating with electrolytes to balance things out. I couldn't handle ANY cold fluids, even water and especially anything with carbonation. I made peppermint tea and let it cool to room temp then took small sips of it. I forced in some saltines and it slowly got better. If you try these things and are still vomiting you must go to the ER for rehydration. Dehydration makes w/d a hundred times worst.
Do you have anyone that can go to the store for you? If you aren't ready to say why just tell them you have a really bad flu.
If you aren't having the D yet, a gravol suppository would be the way to go so you don't have to take anything by mouth.
You aren't gonna die, you may feel like you want to though (:
You gotta trust us though- you will get through this. You have another 36 hours or so of acute w/d and then it will slowly get better.
Honestly, if I were you I'd go to the ER- tell them your detoxing. They will rehydrate you and give you Clonidine (a BP med commonly used in opiate detox which cuts w/d symptoms in HALF)
You will survive this. Hang in there and keep posting.
I'm a night owl so I'll check in with you okay?
Sending support....
Lu
Tanya, everyone above is correct, you were on a pretty high amount of opiate so your symptoms makes sense. Know what, the fact that you can type is a good sign! You won't die, you just feel like you will. Listen, now is not the time to be shameful or have pride. You must have a friend or family member that can come over. That will help w/ the mental so much, you have no idea. Please don't be alone for this. It's a horror for everyone. I've had different symptoms w/ different detoxes too.
Please will you call someone to be w/ you? You don't need to be ashamed or be alone. We're all here, but we're on line.
So sorry you're going thru this, sweetie. You are doing an amazing thing by quitting. Believe or not, your body is actual healing.
Keep posting and call someone. You can even call NA or AA hotline, they may have a suggestion, too. If you were at a meeting, you would have 3 people taking care of you. So, maybe call them and see if they can help, too.
You'll get through this if you can keep some liquids in...being dehydrated is a horrible, sick feeling. Now, if it gets to be too much just stop this and take something. Then try again, maybe with a taper plan. I know it's tough if you're alone and it's a little scary. Do your best, suck on some ice chips, and try to rest or listen to music...music really helps.
I need to say goodnight for now because I'm sleep typing...but try to relax for now. Domino will be checking in I think so someone will be here for you...Hang on though. This should pass soon.
