I have suffered depression longer than I have been an addict. and I can say the times when my deppresion was mild were the times I got the most excercise I know it is VERY hard to move about when you are depessed even painful but If you can try to find a WARM water pool and spend as much time there as you can try the local YMCA or YWCA if you dont have one in your community try a health club with a pool trust me its worth the $ once you have done the swimming for awhile try riding a bike while listening to music that makes you happy . even taking walks will help if you can get a group of friends together walking doesnt suck so much and all this exercise will help when you try to get off the subutex. I know you said your were trying to gain wain so make sure you drink a protein shake or Ensure plus protein before exercise and in general if your appitiete is a problem mine is and I drink ensure plus proien like crazy it has a lot of vitamins us addicts need to help gain back a more normal life please feel free to contact me whenever :)

No problem :)

It's a big deal! It's hard to make the decision and stick with it... especially for 4 weeks! Awesome!

That restless, anxious, clenched-up-inside feeling will subside... It takes time and patience.

If you abused opiates for say 3 years... You can't expect that all of the damage done will reverse itself or get back to 'normal' in a matter of weeks... I'm not saying that it will take 3 years... But give it time... It'll happen for you.

And exercise does help tremendously. As do vitamins, eating right, and the amino acids... All those things that we should have been doing when we were packing junk into our bodies...

Love yourself. :)

I'll be the 2nd to congratulate you on your decision to take back your life. Way to go! and Welcome to the forum, too. I noticed on a different post you are on Subutex. I know little about it but it is unusual to be depressed while on that. Perhaps your dose is not right yet? Check w/your Dr.

Drug use depletes our body's endorphins and seratonin. It takes a long time to restore this. Exercise helps tremendously. Also amino acids help too. Look at the Health Pages near the top rt of page for the Amino Acid Protocol. It is a good place to sart. If your depression continues or is severe, taking an antidepressant may also help. I would first try the amino acids.
