help with pain

Can anyone help me find a doctor in this area that will actually help me. I used to be on Percocet before I moved, but now where I live, my doctor won't give me those. I too was given Neurontin. Are you kidding me, NO WAY! Ive noticed NOTHING and am still in so very much pain. Is there a way to find a doctor in any certain area that is known for prescribing meds that actually help?

thank you to anyone who can help me

I was prescribed neurontin for sciatic nerve pain from a herniated disc. My doctor told me it was not addicting. I know you have to taper off of it though. So if you have been taking it, make sure you don't stop all at once. I agree with going to a pain management clinic. They can point you in the right direction such as epidural steroid shots, physical therapy,  water therapy, and other things to try. There are also other non narcotic pain meds out there that may help. You just have to find one that works for you. Best of luck and if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask.

I looked on a few webs sites and could not find anything stating it was addicting .I think its pretty safe .They are starting  research to use it for insomnia as well now

I have Fibromyalgia, its chronic widespread muscle pain.

Have you tried a pain management clinic??  What about having the procedure where they burn the nerve so its not able to twitch?? My doc talked to me about that down the road.  With herniated discs, the chiropractor can really be helpful. 6 months ago I had NO curve in my neck at all and my head actually sat 3 inches further forward that it should. Now my neck is almost back to normal just with 6 months of going 1-2 x per week and doing traction. Also the stretching and yoga has made a huge difference. Moist heat, Ice.

my pain is coming from L-4, L-5 disks. One is herniated and bulged, and the other is torn.  I also ripped some muscles and ligaments in my shoulderblade/back area that damaged a nerve or some nerves. Im jerking and twitching all up and down my body. Worse on the right side of my body. i dont know if Neurontin makes you jump and twitch or if its still the nerve. It hurts like........a lot!  Im kinda lost in this whole---doctors being scared to prescribe things, or is it that he's actually concerned and doing the best thing for me and my body's pain. He thinks i have a thyroid problem and waiting for blood tests on that. Also thinking I have fibro myalga???  I dont know if its something completely different and we totally missed the mark or if im doing what i can and have to just bear with it. Like i said, Totally lost

thank you for any help

Tramadol is also a narcotic. Some docs are still under the belief that it isn't buts there is more info now.

Lyrica is similiar to Neurotin, but works better for some people.

Mobic is a NSAID. its for immflamation.

For me, I have had good luck with trigger point injections with streroids. Yoga and stretching, Chiropractor and massage therapy.

thank you, im not sure where to go. I dont necessarily need those kinds of meds, i just need something that works better. Is there a non narcotic that people have seen to work better than neurontin. Im actually off narcotics since January and actually would like it to stay that way because im finally clear headed and withdrawls are gone completely. Im happy to be off and narcotic free but the pain is so intense that i figured that there was no where else to turn other than Percocet again. Does anyone know if there is help to get meds that keep me narcotic free but actually helps the pain. I heard about Lyrica. Any suggestions? How about Mobic, Tramadol?  are these ok?

Where is your pain coming from?  How long were you taking Percs?  Maybe it's time to taper down with something else.  They do have tons of acetamenophen in them and that's killer on your liver.  I hope you find peace here somehow.

Welcome. I don't think you are in the right forum. This is a forum for people getting off of pain meds. If you are looking for a doctor that is more likely to give you stronger narcotics, then I don't think this is the place. Maybe join the pain mangement forum.
