I have been hooked on OC's for about a year. I take as much as I can a day, usuakky about an 80. I try to quit but when I think about tapering I just say screw it and tell myself I'll do it a different day. When I don't take it, I can't move or get anything done for the whole day. I have also been taking vikodin for about 3 years prior. I am paranoid that the pain killers might be covering up an actual problem in my body because I have upper pain in my back like it is my kidneys. Is this normal? I want to get clean for myself but mostly for my daughter. I am in school and can't get a week off to try to get clean. I also can't be a peice of **** at work. please help!

I too am addicted to Oxy's and Roxies, and any other pain med there is, but I am 21 days clean now.  I had to go to detox in order to get off the stuff.  i could not do it at home as I would get too sick, plus I would have killed my husband.

Hey there. First let me start by saying I am on my 13 day off Subutex/Suboxone. This is a great thing to take if you don't mind being off of it the rest of your life, BUT getting off of it takes longer than any other drug. So if you're going to see a shrink to help you stop taking the OC's then make sure he's well educated on the Subs and is going to have a plan at hand and not just make you take them till you get sick of that too. The best thing to do is start tappering like you said and just try and get off of it. But you have to be ready. I was takin 20-50 vics a day for a few yrs. I said I wanted to stop a few times, but like you said no I'd rather start a different day. One day I just got fed up and figured I was lucky to even be alive takin that many pills a day. That's when I got on Subs and kept telling my dr I wasn't having cravings and to take me off! No good, he keeps saying I'm not ready. PLEASE! So I took matters into my own hands and am just starting to be able to move around after the 10th day. Subs take waaaay longer to detox from. I'm on day 13 and I am starting to feel so much better! As far as your back goes, it's gonna hurt worse when you detox, sorry, mine is killing me but I'd rather deal with back pain then use again. If you detox once you get done go to a reg dr and have your kidneys checked. I'm no dr but I will say when i was using I had thoughts like that all the time. Let me know how you're doing.
