did you get into an accident?
I think you're telling my story about 2 years ago,, It took me a long time to realize I had a problem and then even longer to decide to do something about it,, during this time my dose went up to taking about 300mg of hydro's,, you can do the math, but that is a lot of pills,, 16 days ago I went cold turkey, I'm still alive, but it's been a road of emotional and physical problems,, and a lot of regret,, I wish I would have seen the problem when it was only 8-9 pills a day,, the longer you play with this drug Rob, the more it reals you in, and the more it requires you to take to even feel normal again,, I couldn't take under 20 pills or I went into mild w\d,, I have tapered a few times, and wouldn't recommend it,, yes cold turkey is hard but it gets the drug out of your system fast so you can begin healing,, look up the amnio acid protocal, and thomas recipe, they are both on the right hand side of the screen,, I took everything on the anmio acid one and I really think it helped,, with the dose that I went off of w\d really wasn't that bad, I feel a lot better now that when I was taking the pills,, sometimes I miss my high but then I think about everything that comes with it, and I don't want to go back there,, Good luck and keep posting, people on here will help you in unbelievable ways... I have been where you are at. I tried to wean myself of my norco habit but I never could. If you could slowly reduce your usage that could be one way. Other people say that its better to stop CT and just get the withdrawl symptoms over with quicker. I was never very good at suffering through the withdrawl symptoms. For me, what saved my life was suboxone. It took away all the cravings and started my on the road to recovery. The draw back is now I have to wean myself off of suboxone. But it has not been as bad as withdrawl from the norcos. This is just my experience. I have read many successful stories of stopping pain medicine without using suboxone. However, I was never very good at handling the withdrawl symptoms (I have underlying depression issues).
So for me suboxone saved my life and helped me get back on track. I now privately take suboxone, go to AA/NA, and am scheduled to see a therapist. One thing I do know that there are many people on this forum that can share there successfull experiences. I am not trying to promote suboxone. Just letting you know that there are ways to help you stop your addiction. Good luck and know you are not alone.

Hi rob and welcome to the forum.. The best thing you can do is stop taking them.. Addiction in the beginning does exactly what you are using them for.. pain energy emotional stability.. It is all just a ruse as it leads to loss of energy depression it consumes your thoughts and takes from everyone you care about.. You have a job now but performance starts to suffer.. many loose everything.. Keep reading the forum and educate yourself on the symptoms of wd.. there are things you can do to make them bearable.. You are not on as high a does as some so keep this in mind while reading.. I hope you come to the conclusion that you would rather lead your life independently and not tied to a pill to make you feel normal.. I wish you well kesa
