hey guys!

hello everyone, im new to this forum but iv always kept up on readings and learning from all of you..
Iv recently been given another chance at getting clean and i want to thank god for that opp... This is my third dance with subutex and i wanted to tell what iv learned but at the same time try and figure out where iv went wrong.. My first ex with sub was at a live in rehab in west palm, by the name of "the watershed" which was hands down the best rehab iv been through. There they start you on subutex for the first 2 days then on to suboxone for the remaining time your in detox. anyways i  stayed cleaned for a year then got into an accident and hit up the pain clinic once again.. After batteling with maintaining my huge tolerence i discovered that there could never be enough.... Think about it, even if we were perscribed 9,000 roxys or whatever your pill of choice might be a month. there would come a time to where it wouldnt be enough.... We hurt people and ourselfs to chase a false sense of happiness. All we  addicts really do is try and hide from dispositions instead of putting hard work into fixing them.... i know im getting off track here and im well beyond the pink cloud theroy im just venting trying to share what iv seen in me ..
my question is probally a popular one...... my doc has no idea about subs, he looked them up on his phone while i was sitting there.  But he saw i was in agony so he agreed to write me some subs for a month and a month only.... shouldnt i be on it longer? i know its suposed to go by the # of yrs youv used but ? also could anyone direct me to a site that has tapering charts and info that i could use to fill my doc in???   thanks to you all !!! god bless

I am currently on Suboxone..and have been for about 3 months now…. I do consider it a miracle drug… I’m not going to get on my soap box about Suboxone, but it literally changed my life… I was addicted to Norco’s for about 3 years…I was taking 10 to 15 10/325mg per day… I tried to quit several times before but the w/d’s were just too hard and getting Norco’s were just too easy to get…. But anyway… I don’t know everything about Suboxone..but I will tell you what I know… I found my Dr on the Suboxone website… and I’m pretty sure a doctor does need to be certified to write a script for Suboxone, so I don’t think your Doctor was supposed to do that..but anyway…. My doctor started me out on an 8mg dose twice a day for the first 45 day…. After that… he kind of let me play around with the taper myself… on day 45 I went to about half the original dose (4mg dose twice a day)… That was more then the doctor expected, but I my body seemed to handle it well…. I didn’t feel any affected from cutting my dosage in half…Thinking back… I think I could have started at that dose from day one and probably would have been ok…but who knows…. On about day 60 I cut my dose in half again…another 2 weeks of that, then cut it to about 2mg per day…. That is where I’m at now…. It’s been a long 3 month… But I can honestly say, I have not felt any w/d whatsoever…. I think most doctors would consider my taper fast…and maybe it is… I think how your body handles a taper is different for everybody… Again… I don’t know everything about Suboxone… but I do know what it did for me….It allowed me to get my life back…. I would recommend getting with a doctor that is certified in Suboxone… My doctor told me he has patients that are on it for a year and some that are on it for only a couple of months…. It really depends on the person….

I hope this helps…and good luck!!

Hello....

I do not know about Subs....But I thought that a doctor had to have a certain certificate to write that but I could really be wrong.Obviously he did and you are lucky to have such a nice doc.....

I am not nearly as informed about all this as most people on here so I am sure somebody can answer your question.  I went c/t  but did taper with darvocet one time but that isn't the same. I am sure somebody will be able to answer your questions.

Just wanted to say hello and welcome GOODLUCK!

hello.. i dont know much about pain meds, only what ive read here plus my DOC was xanax... but i know what you're saying.. when i was on xanax it came to a point where what I was taking was never enough, and yes you do hurt people along the way but most of all we just hurt ourselves.. there are so many people here that will tell you about a tapering plan that would suit you ... HOLD ON AND KEEP POSTING, at least you are here.. that is one big step!
