how hard is it to come off suboxine????

Ok i have been on a wonderful suboxine program for 14 months now. My doctor and my counsler are amazing people. But i am in the process of coming down to be off of it.. I started on 8mg twice a day and now i am on 3/4 of an 8 mg. I am nervous or scared or something.. I need some input from people that are taking the program serious.. about what to expect in these last few months of it..Is there physical withdraws? I know that i am done with drugs.. I have been a hard core addict for 15 years.. Suboxine and my doctor has completley saved my life and  i am scared of life after it...

Hi,

As you're still on 6mg a day, you won't be coming off for a while yet.

And yes, I'm afraid there will be withdrawal symptoms when you do come off.

However, please trust me when I say that the fear is much worse than the reality. Your doctor and your counsellor will do this in a way which minimises withdrawals, and will be there to support you through it, as will everyone on this list.

Don't worry about it.

Take care

You may have to take baby steps at first. I have been on the suboxone program for about 18 months now. I am also in the process of starting my taper.I think the best way to do this is slow and steady. I think if you taper slow enough there wont be too many withdrawls, but I hear there are some. But then again everyone is different. I deffinately take this program serriously! It also saved my life. I give you a big high five for taking the next step to being free of opiates!!
