how long....for real?

hi everyone.  well, for the past little less than a year I have been taking 5 mg oxycodoes that I get fro a friend who has them prescribed to her for stage 4 cancer.  She doesn't need nearly as many as they give her, so she gives them to friends for cheap.  At the most I was taking appx. 14 a day, but more commonly 7-8.  I have stopped numerous times for anywhere from 3-4 days.....felt great, and went back.  Usually because money would come around.  I am now at a point where I just really want to stop.  It's been 2 days since I ate my last pll, and yesterday was bad, today not as bad, but I need to get back to work tomorow.  I'm freaked out about the thought of lashing out at my employees because of withdrawals.....I have been taking a multivitamin for the last 2 days, and eating tons of fruit. (oranges/apples)  Anyone know what to expect in the future...will I ever get back to the days when I loved to walk outside and look at the trees w/ out being high?  Thanks!

Don't take any to ease any pain. That puts you back to square one. You don't need it. It is the withdrawals talking. After you do it, you will wish you never had. If I can suggest it, maybe you should tell your wife? My girlfriend is so against drugs and alcohol. I have been with her off and on 4 years. I know it's not the same as being married and all, but I think she will understand. My girlfriend has been trying her best to understand, and although at times it is hard, she does pretty well. Your wife will try her best because she loves you. Do what you need to stay sober. If it means suboxone, tell your wife and get it done. It will help greatly, I promise you that.

Hey bud, it does get better after about 4 days.  I didn't really suffer thru the withdrawals all that bad even though I was taking 20 to 25 percs a day and anything else I could get my hands on.  The strangest thing happened today.  I was up hiking in the mountains and after only a week detoxing I saw things more vivid than I had ever noticed them to be in my entire life.  One thing I had in my favor is I didn't really engage that much.  I pretty much kept to myself and distanced myself from just about everything.  It's a brighter, better world off the pills.  Keep yourself vigilant to your health and don't give in to the temptation.  You'll begin to see the light soon but according to my failures detoxing in the past I can tell you that your next few days are going to be trying.  You just have to push yourself beyond the next few days.  It's a (**&^(*....But all sorts of people on this website are pulling thru and enjoying the benefits.  Take care

yea, I have thought of suboxone, but the problem is, is getting the $ to get he scipt.  My wife, who has no idead about all this runs the family money.  I can tell my attitude has changes toward her, and I'm doing my damnest not to get to snipy w/ my son.  I have been in my bedroom now for the past 2 days.....although runing to the bathroom on occasion  :-)  Maybe this is the withdrawal talking, and my own stupidity, but wold it hurt to get myself a 2-3 more to ease the bspain?  honestly, will that really put me backto square one?  peace

This question has crossed my mind many times. I started the same way you did and graduated to oxycontin. I am now finding myself admiring nice days and great scenery. I am currently taking a drug called suboxone, which is an opiate blocker. www.suboxone.com if you are curious...
I am not sure if I am back to my old self because of the suboxone or because of being sober...But I am. It's going to be a bumpy ride but you can do it. You can cut the pills out of your life. I have been clean 2 weeks as of yesterday. The first week is the hardest. After that it is gradually easier. Best of luck and keep me updated please.

U will feel better and better each day it sounds...that is how it went for me...if u have to work tomorrow, i advise u to lay low....plead the flu and mingle as little as possible if u feel cranky...play it by ear...one more day off may be a good idea but we have to do what we have to do...I am 7 weeks clean tomorrow and the energy and happiness returns...slowly and it cycles for me...now I have more good cycles than bad...exercise helps tremendously.. hang in there and keep posting
