I am just starting to get over what I thought was JUST my allergies, turned out after a quick 20 minute doctors visit it was w/d's that brings our normal body's defenses down even more than while on the drug because we physically feel bad from our extreme emotionally distress. It brings the body down and makes you a much easier target for a cold bug or flu or any kind of virus to lach onto to you and REALLY make you sick. I would reccomend a doctors visit, and if it has really only come on since you get taking tabs then it is really just the w/d's just be careful as your body is still down and adjusting to normal operations.
a lot of it (as mentioned) may be from the cough-suppressant properties of narcs -- once you're off, the lungs (and everything else) "wake up" (wds are the sudden waking up of everything all at once, esp ct) and start trying to clear out all the **** that was not coughed up during the abuse period -- but six weeks is awhile, and it wouldn't hurt to get checked out. have you had a fever? that would be an absolute indication for a visit to the PCP.
i always developed a bronchitis like cough when in the midst of withdrawals...every time, bad cough...thought for sure i was dieing from lung cancer...it would immediately stop when i relapsed. go figure...?.
Although I also agree with SableZen , if it last much longer do have it checked out with a Dr............Take care
Yes a cough is very normal while w/d from Hydro along with sneezing. It wont last forever, I know my stomach was sore for awhile after I quit, but congratulations on quiting!! If you notice you very seldom get sick while using.
Keep faith this will subside soon, eat healthy and take care of yourself....
I would get that checked out with a doctor if it continues for more than a few days. Opiates suppress coughing... and the cough may have been covered up and not noticeable while on the hydrocodone. Not trying to overly concern you - just wanted you to be aware there may be a different problem causing your cough to be on the safe side.
