hydrocodone addiction

i've been taking hydrocodone for about 2 yrs. off and on not every day, because of a shattered hand and then shoulder and back injury. i noticed within the last 3-4 months that if i don't take them i actually feel achy and in the last  2 weeks i notice that if i take them for a few days and then don't i get periodic waves or spells of feeling sweaty and nauseous. I wonder if I'm addicted. i've gone weeks and even months without taking them but if my body is craving this stuff I'm trashing this ****, i can't take advil because i have stomach problems. thats why i started taking hydro. is it safe to just quit cold turkey because thats what i want to do. i usually take 5/165 once or twice a day( i asked for 10/325 so it would be easier on my liver, i take halves. my doc didn't seem concerend so i wasn't). i'm just being safe but is it o.k to just quit from that extent of use.

Sounds as though you don't have the mental cravings which is very good.  The physical addiction or dependence is unavoidable when taking opiates for a period of time.  You will have withdrawls, but not the mental issues of cravings.  If the w/d become too intense, cut the pill into 1/4 and take that for 3 days, then try to quit again.  I commend you for nipping this in the bud.  Wish i could have done the same!

that is a low enough dose to just quit. safe? one can never say. it is always wise to let your doctor know what is going on in case you have some kind of adverse reaction? and then he can help you out. of course there is always the emergency room but i seriously doubt if you will have that severe of symptoms.

Yup those are withdrawal symptoms. Even if a person is using as directed, they are habit forming. Just quit and go on through it. The longer and more you take. the worse it gets.

No sweat (being facitious) at that dose...u will be fine...it does sound like u r having wds as clamminess is one of my first warning signs and i hated it...behind my neck and knees especially...now is a wonderful time to just jump off and be done...there are some aminos and supps to help in the thomas recipe in the health pages...u should be fine...if it makes u feel better u could do 5 mg for a few days then quit...but i would do it quickly before u lose the motivation...it is so nice to see someone catch this so early and not wait until this is a major ordeal...u may feel a bit of discomfort but should not be bad at all...keep posting
