30 days and counting

I am very aware that I still have a long road (a lifetime) ahead of me but today I am extremely proud and happy and will take this day to celebrate. I have made it 30 days opiate-free! I have dreamed of this day for so many years but never thought I would get here. While living through it, it seemed to take 30 years but I now realize just how fast it actually went. I woke up today excited for my future and that hasn't happened in a long time.

If I can do this, anyone who truly wants it can do this. My hope is that my journey will inspire someone else and give them the strength to begin their own journey. Today I am headed to my local substance abuse clinic for an appointment to set up a schedule for becoming a volunteer. If I can help or reach just one other person I want to do it. I feel the need to do it.

This site saved my life and I want to thank each and every one of you. Some I talked with and some I just read their stories but every one contributed to saving me. Looking forward to being here to offer hope to those just starting their journey.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful Wednesday.
Patty

There are many people on this forum that can help you get through the early withdrawal symptoms. The best way to get support for yourself is to start your own post. Click the blue Back to community button just below the last post on this page. This may even be my post if you read this soon. When you get to the community home page hit the post your own question button. You can leave the box empty that asked you to fill in "TO" In the COMMENT  box post your question or concerns.
