I hope your pain gets to a more manageable level ..I know mine isent as bad now as it was when I was on methadone to control it...after a little time your body sorta resets its pain clock and otc stuff actually work...or I should say it takes the edge off it and it tolerable try not to get discouraged by today and look for another conslor there are some good ones out there...good luck and God bless........Gnarly
Over a year ago when I went to my GP I told her that I was addicted to painkillers and had been abusing them for a long time, so I wanted to get my liver and kidneys checked out. She did the tests, and came back in. I had a pretty rough cough from quitting smoking cigarettes, so she checked that out too, and then proceeded to write me a scrpt for tussinex, a cough syrup containing a good amount of hydrocodone. SOME DRS ARE JUST CLUELESS WHEN IT COMES TO ADDICTION!
I now go to a dr who runs a GP but is also an addictionologist. This way, no more drs tempting me to get high again. Great job on tearing it up, though. You will find someone you like sooner or later. Good luck!
It just goes to show that some doctors really dont pay attention to their patients....
tramahater......dont pull YOUR hair out......I have a better idea!!!!!!! LOL
That is exactly what I was thinking! If she had caught me on the wrong day, look out! I would have let her have it. Read her the riot act, so to speak. I know that a doctor is not responsible for keeping any of us off of drugs, but if she knows your history and still did that.......UUGGGHHHHH!!! I hate that!!! Makes me want to pull my hair out by the root, just thinking about it! : )
Good for you on getting rid of that script. I wouldnt go back either. Knowing me i would of unloaded on her!!! sara
thanx to everyone for all of the replies and i can actually say it wasnt even hard this time to throw the script in the trash i never even had a thought about anything but getting rid of it as soon as i walked out
ABritt
Gosh ABritt that took courage. WTG!
I understand about back pain. I am a bit older than you so I can say I walk around like an old person who is in pain and look the part.
I am hoping I can find something to deal with my pain too. It gets hard to move sometime.
Drew
ABritt.. I hear you.... My back first went out at 24.. up until then I had never had 'real' pain issues.. I think the lifestyle and abuse have something to do with us feeling so old before our time.. Im 31 now and I still have days where I feel like i'm 80! I think that its possible to reverse the damage we've done.. Its just going to take a lot of time and healthy living.. really love and take care of ourselves.. My back really started improving with exercise and slow stretching/strengthening. Sorry to hear about yoru shoulder... hopefully you will find a good alternative to deal with it.. and, maybe time wil heal it as well.
Good job on throwing away that sub. It never really helped me with any pain issues I had when I was on it.. definitely dont think the benefits outweighs the risks associate with it.
Use Ice and heat. Alternate it on the shoulder. Ice it up good when your are icing. Try to keep it as stable as possible.. and try some Advil. It could help.
Good luck!
Yea its not the way i ever thought i would be at 24 feel like im falling apart already and that aint no good
ABritt
Ohh...so sorry! I hope you don't need surgery either...that's a very painful sugery. Just
wish they could find a good fix for you...no way to be at 24!! I feel for you!
V.
oh no im not sure if i have to get surgery or not yet they arent sure i got xrays and now i gotta get an mri next week sometime and my doc thinks that i am prob gonna have to get surgery but is not positive yet god i hope i dont have to and can get this fixed without it cause i hate surgery so much and just had back surgery 7 months ago its just been a really bad year for me i feel like i am 24 in a 65 year old body
ABritt
Wow!! Unbelievable! You did the exact right thing! Although here you are...still in pain and out 80 bucks!! Ouch!
So,when is your surgery? Soon?? I hope..
Vicki xo
yea i know thats what i told my mom right after i left i was cussing and yellin cause that worthless visit cost me 80 bucks i mean if i was gonna do that i would just go back to my DOC rather than suboxone cause i know withdrawals are alot shorter on pain meds than subs cause of the half life and the pain meds would actually help the pain i mean i am not going to do either but if i was i would take the pain med route over loading up on suboxone that doesnt even help my pain and not to mention the cost of suboxone is OUTRAGEOUS to take like that it is well worth the cost for a 1 or 2 week detox with subs but taking it 4 times a day until they fix my shoulder YEA RIGHT
ABrit
You were right in not taking them! They are wonderful for detox, but I would definitely not use them now that you are 2 months out!!! That would be opening a HUGE, unruly can of worms!!! : )
see thats what was weird for me because even in withdrawals i still have real pain i mean i have still have pain to this day in my back and now for the last month in my shoulder and it was over two months ago when i did take the subs but when i did take the subs for that week they didnt help my backpain that was not from withdrawals a bit i hurt just as much on the sub as i do off the subs cause thats what she seemed to think is that the subs would help pain just as much as pain meds do but in my case they dont help pain any at all
ABritt
I am so proud of you! For all practical purposes, the sub WOULD have helped the pain, but good grief!!! After the WDs you have dealt with and FINISHED with, you wouldn't think she would want to start all that back up???
Whatever....anyway....you did great! Good job!
