The more of that you take the more you will need and the less it will work.  I was taking 4 to 5 ambien crs a night at one point.  Or Lunesta.  Now for 3 days i am off of it and just taking melatonin 5 mg. and L-triptophan 2 or 3 of those.  I have had 2 pretty good nights actually and am hopeful that it will get even better.  All of those meds are habit forming, the sleeping ones and pain ones, all except the benadryl you mentioned.
While you get leveled out and off of all the other you will probably have some sleepless nights but it will get better.  So, i encourage you to cut back and go to these more natural things.  Good luck to you and keep posting. TJack

You can talk to your doctor about this and he could help...he may suggest cutting out one medication at a time...then get to the point where u can sleep on your own or with something like melatonin...do you use any drugs during the day?

I just had a spinal fusion surgery in Dec, it takes a long time to get off pain drugs after that.

For some reason as high of a tolerance as I have to narcotics and benzos benedryl does the same thing to me.  Why are you taking hydros and somas?  Have you tried melatonin?
