july 20th-august 20th!

Well i went cold turkey on july 20th and here it is aug 20th.. Still clean and feeling really good. I was taking vics, norcos and percs. I started taking them for fun.lol. Then i was in an accident which did not help since i had perscriptions for them. I was taking pills for around a year. When i stopped i was taking atleast 10 a day. I bought with drawal ease and that seemed to help some. I never had diarreha and did not get sick. I was able to eat all meals with solid food. I did not sleep for awhile but now im getting 6-8 hours a night and i love it. One thing ive noticed is that i cant drink alcohol now. No beer or my favorite jack daniels. 2-3 mixed drinks/1 hour worth of drinking beer i get the worst headaches that ive ever had. Is that normal? will it pass? I dont drink alot but sometimes like to have some drinks. Thats the only thing that bothers me. I went out for my bday on the 18th and ended up with a super bad head ache during dinner because i had a 2 mixed drinks. I guess if i have to stop drinking all together i will. Just wondering if anyone else felt this.

Congrats on a month clean. As far as the drinking goes, everyone is different. However, if you associate drinking with pills, then you shouldn't drink. And if you might do something that you wouldn't when you're sober, like take pills, then you shouldn't.
I'd just be very careful. As Sarah says - keep your guard up. Anything that can compromise your guard should be avoided.

First off, congrats on your clean time.  I was never a huge drinker, no liquor ever and only a few beers in the evening a few days a week.  So when I was using, 3-4 beers at night was kind of the routine with a few pills the days I used. When I detoxed, alcohol was like glass and very unenjoyable.   I was hesitant to even mess with it, but I know that my issue does not cross over into alcohol.  Some disagree and would say to never drink at all either after a narcotics addiction.  I totally get the reasons why, just have to do what is right for you.  So, for me, I have a beer or three sometimes, and it isn't as bad as it was the longer I gain clean time.  I had 56 days, relapsed for 10 and am on 50 something days again.  Hard to explain, but if you are like me it will probably never be what it was because we started to associate it with the narcs.....I try to just embrace it as a good thing anyway.  I don't want to be searching for some other high, that's the danger.

Congratulations on your clean time!  I don't know anything about drinking....I have a hard time getting one drink down, but I am sure someone else can tell you more.
