Thank you so much for your advice. I had surgery 12/2011 after trying all types of "pain solutions".
I am now free from the pain meds.
The withdrawal was horrible, but the Hylands Restful Legs and the Hylands Leg Cramps medication off the shelf. Really Helped!!!
I used the vitamins and have done as much exercise as I can.
For sleep I used the Melatonin, but had to use one of the sleeping pills prescribed right after surgery.
The best thing I had going for me is my husband. He has been so understanding and forgiving. My restless sleeping for two nights kept him up. But he wants me to be free of the medicine too. I feel happier now that I have gone 5 days without the medicine.
Thank you again. All the tips helped.
laurel 453 gave you a great recipe for easing the symptoms. You have done a fantastic thing by taking the leap! I know it is hard to see what a wonderful thing you are doing for yourself when you are feeling this way. BUT, you need to remember that it does get better, and you do get your life back. Aftercare is important, and I hope other members post their ideas about that for you, because that is the part I need to work on for myself. My story is similar- after two surgeries, I found out that I liked the high (norco 10/325 as well). When a string of bad events happened in my life, I turned to them to escape. It's been almost 3 years, and I want the rest of my life to belong to ME! Keep up the good work, you are doing great, and you'll start feeling better. Just hang in there.
The best thing you can do, you already did. The decisions that you have a problem and you need to quit are the two biggest hurdles to get over. The rest is downhill. Not saying it's easy, no it is physically rough but you'll live through it coming out stronger on the other side.
laurel453 gave excellent advise . The other piece of the puzzle she mentioned too... Posting here is your lifesaver, so to speak. There are no dumb questions or concerns. You can trust the advice of most everyone here. We are not purposely going to lead you wrong. We all have been through it (or someone close to us).
You are no longer alone. There are wonderful people here. We can all help you get through this....I sometimes feel alone too.
Just keep posting questions and let us know how you are feeling. You can get through this and feel good again. You can be happy too!!!!
