length of w/d from oxycontin

Hi, I tapered and stopped 10 mg. of oxycontin last Sunday.  I finally got some relief from the symptoms, and slept a bit after 7 days.  On day 9, the symptoms again came  back, though just a bit milder.  Today is day 11 and I am wondering how much longer I will have the anxiety and shaking.  Thank you.

Yes, I thought the same thing.  The past few days really kicked the **** out of me, like you, I thought the worst physical part was over.  The night sweats were horrible the past few days and shakes at night bad with chills.

Last night, though I slept for 8 hours, I did wake up a number of times.  I was able to return to sleep each time after waking though, which I have not been able to do for a week.  Couple that with a bunch of dreaming too, which I hope is a sign of reaching the proper sleep cycles (please).

Today was a pretty good day.  I still have the chills like crazy.  ELECTRIC spine ALL day.  I haven't eaten yet but will do so soon because I am STARVING which I will also take as a positive given the little I've been able to eat the past few days.

I expect that things will come and go for a bit so you should get a break Minnie.  Hang in there and great job so far.

I didn't ask you how long you experienced the resurgence of w/d symptoms.,,, and I am very glad that you slept last night.  I slept 7 hours on Sunday evening.  I think that is why this is so difficult b/c I certainly thought after last week's agony I would be back to somewhat normal.

Hey Minnie,

The exact same thing happened to me,  Days 9 and 10 were almost as bad as late day 2, early day 3. (bad).

My dose was much higher and went cold turkey so I expect it a for a but yet.

The good news is, I finally slept last night for 8 HOURS!!!!  I slept just several hours in the previous 4 days and it was tough.  I would expect this should not continue too much longer for you.

Hand in there Minnie, short term pain for long term gain!!!!!!!

Hi Minnie,

The acute withdrawal syndrome should only last 5-7 days, most people start feeling better after around day 5.  10mg is not a whole lot of oxy, so you should be through the main part of the withdrawal by now.  You could be experiencing some symptoms of PAWS- you can read about this in the Health Pages.  Unfortunately, Anxiety is common after people withdrawal.  It can stick around for up to a month, but will get better.  Exercise and suppliments like in the Amino Acid Protocol (Health Pages) work well.  Keep posting and reading other posts.  Lots of people, including me - have been in your shoes.  If your anxiety gets to the point where it is overwhelming, do not hesitate to call your doctor.

Best of luck and congratulations on 11 days clean!
