Sub Taper/withdrawl

So as some of you may know, I've been tapering off Suboxone over the last 2 weeks. I started on 12 mg's, (yes I know too high) but with a few of you guy's help tapered down fast and I've been at 1 mg since Tuesday. I felt fine at the 2 mg's, no major withdrawls. I started taking the 1 mg on Tuesday and felt MAJOR withdrawls starting y-day morning. I took a little over 1 mg y-day jst to ease it a little bit since I had to work last night.  I woke up today and felt absoluetely horrible. I took the 1 mg, but it's not really helping. I was planning on going snowboarding tomorrow but cancelled that b/c I just don't think I'll feel ok. My question is, can I jump off the sub's completely right now? I just feel like I'm prolonging the inevitable by continuing to take it, and it's dragging out longer than I want....(I am at 2 1/2 weeks now. I just don't know what to do. I was planning on taking .5 tomorrow but I'm not even sure it's worth it. I'm off of work tomorrow, but I have to work Sat night, and cannot get out of it so I'm worried about if I'll be ok or not.   Can anyone give me any advice? Thanks in advance.
~Jenn

I'm confused. Have you been on Sub for only 2 weeks total?  Or have you been tapering for 2 weeks only?   How long total have you been on Sub?
I'm real curious to hear how you do with this process. Please keep us updated.
Good luck.

good 4 u!    tapering is drawn out suffering for many...have seen people here taper for months suffering a bit everyday..when they coulda put em down 2 months ago and be done..2 months post pills was the turning point for me on the mental aspect of wd...4 days for the physical...and they r still suffering physical stuff 2 months into this process but down to 1 pill a day...which is great but what a eeky 2 months...dont know..we are all different creatures with different goals..fear of physical wds can get people in deep doo doo...when it is the aftermath that counts(:

Ya, I got to agree with just stopping all together now and get it over with.
The same thing happened to me.  I had little problems going from three 40mg a day to three 30s then 20s,but on the 10s it was definately on and off. I found I was feeling realy uncomfortable and achy, and try to sleep ya right.
I struggled for a few days and decided if i'm going to feel this crappy anyway, might as well go for it......
Today is day 2 with no pills...yay!!  feelin like a tub of **** though lol.
I know it will get better soon. Hot bath definately helps lots.
Merry Christmas

Hi again Jdawne --- sent you a PM.  I think you will be fine --  I also think you will be glad you went ahead and didn't drag it out --  We all know what you are going through -- we did it too.  Just take it one day at a time -- sounds cliche but it is true -- You will soon start to feel better.  I think by Christmas you are going to be FREE --- all except the energy level may still be flat but that too comes back.  All the best Jdawne.

Thank you guys for all your advice. You guys just gave me the confidence that I needed to just JUMP THE F OFF! I'm almost relieved in a way that I'm going to face it head on instead of continuing to take it, and being scared all the time about what I'm going to face. Is the sub w/d similar to the hydro withdrawl? Will I feel better in a week or so? Thanks again to all of you, I would NOT be where I am right now w/out this site!

If you are suffering that much, then yes...stop now...it will be easier for you then continuing to taper at that level.

It so difficult to know cause everyone is so different... I too have read of people on a 2 week agressive taper who feel fine jumping off sub.. now you are experiencing something different and im so sorry for that.  I know what you are going through and totally agree with what oc thinks - inevitably waiting just drags it out.  I made that mistake for 2 years and lived to regret it.  Many will say you are taperning too quickly and this is why you are experiencing w/d though--but I disagree with that.  In my opinion the longer your on the worse the wd.  Will you be able to function - yes.. you will be surprised what you are capable of - even when you feel like total he11.  If you absolutely cannot take off - just mush through it.  If there is any way at all- id take off.  But ultimately you are doing great and taking control of your recovery and I totally commend and respect you for it.   Best of luck and I will look forward to continuing to read your posts and progression.

i agree with ochooked..get off..flush what is left...it wont be tood bad hopefull with only 2 weeks of use..also u may have some residual wds left over from ur doc if it was a heavy dose...it take a bit to feel back to normal whatever normal is....suffering while tapering is not all it is cut out to be and if it is in ur reach it is tempting...for me i would rather get it over with..good luck.,dont push ur luck with the bupe

Yeah, it will be ok, I'm did the same thing with methadone, I keep going down to 1/2 of pill, but I went from 40mg to 5mg in 3 weeks. And I wish I would have just gone cold turkey b/c it takes 2 weeks for your body to register the taper, so by the end of the 2 weeks it was basically like going from 40 to 0. I just drug it out and now I am paying for it. It is hard and it's not fun. But you can do it, I didnt think I could, I was on methadone for 4 yrs straight, I cant remember what it feels like to be sober, which is scary. I'm on day 10, and it's still hard. But I figured out a few things by trail and error so it you are interested let me know.
Good luck

Thanks for responding to me about this. How long do you think the w/d's from sub will last?  I've talked to some people who did a much longer taper than I did and didn't have any w/d's at all, but I tried to be careful and taper agressively and I'm still getting them!! Wht the hell? Do you think I will be able to function at work on Sat?

Hi Jdawne-----  I know the agony you are feeling and what Sub will do to you when you try to let it go.  I personally think, since you have been on it for less than 2 weeks, that you could jump -- others on here may have a different opinion.   I think you are right in assuming that you are going to suffer anyway so why not just jump and get it over with.  Yes, it will be rough for a few days but then you are over it and not dragging it out.  Yes, as you know you started on way too high a dose -  but we live and learn.   Congratulations on getting clean from ALL opiates --  You are going to be so pleased with the new you.  Please, Jdawne -- keep posting and share your experience with others on this site.  It will help you and them.  All the best.
