methadone and an operation

I am going into the hospital next week to have a surgey done.  I will need to be put out for this procedure.  I am on about 80 mg of methadone a day.  Being on this, wilI have any complications for the surgery?  I know that when I am taking methadone, it does not let me feel any other drugs, well at least not all of it.  Will this complicate the procedure?  Will I be ok when I take the anesthesia?

Hi poppylopim having a Hip-resurfacing operation on june 4th,the anestheist was told by me,that i am on Methadone @70mgs Liquid a day.I was told that many methadone patients under-goe different medical precedures requiring General anesthetic.Poppylop just tell the drs.the truth and you will be treated with medical-care and respect.All the best john

it is imperative that you be completely honest with your anesthesiologist during your interview and you may want to inform your surgeon asap. they sometimes have to do special procedures to be sure you are well taken care of. i worked in the or for several years. good luck and god bless you.
