methadone from mmt to pain management

I began seeing a pain management specialist last May who put me on methadone 40 mgs a day. I was doing pretty well, but after a few months I requested a fentanyl pain patch after researching that it may help my issues a little better. I was concerned I might go into withdrawal when switching, but she assured me I wouldnt.  I was so sick I thought I would die.  I called at least twenty times that week with no answer.  She finally called back, and said to bring back all the remaining patches and she would give me another prescription for methadone.  I didnt have the exact amount so I was kicked out.  I may have been one or two off. I was forced to go to a methadone clinic even though I am not an addict because she blackballed me from every doctor in town for that one incident! I couldnt get off of it myself.  Liquid methadone was not the same.  I needed 70 mg for pain relief. I finally found another Dr after three months of methadone clinic hell.  He said he would give me methadone but only 30mg and zanaflex, and after a month, well see what we can do.  Im in serious withdrawal on day five. What can I do?  I dont want to bother the dr its my last hope!! But I have two kids to take care of!  I have severe scoliosis, sacrolitiiis, hip  bursitis, and fibromyalgia.  Any ideas, help?!  Thanks!

There is no miracle pill, but there are little things you can do that some people find helpful. Hot baths with Epsom salts to relieve your rls and sore body. Drink lots of water, or Gatorade so you don't dehydrate. Imodium worked great for me because diarria was the worst. Especially with kids and you have to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes. Melatonin for sleep. Other ppl will be along with there ideas.

Well, I think Im going to have to be on something to stop the pain as Ive tried every type of treatment there is available in the last fifteen years.  Im hoping to find something that is not quite so hard core and sedating.  But, in the meantime, while Im trying to drop down. Is there something that might help the withdrawals or help me feel better?

If your on day 5 already I'd just try to hang in there. You will stabilize at this new dose soon. It was a big jump, but we all have to start somewhere to get off of the drugs. Then your now on such a lower dose now that when you start to ween off it will be in tiny increments where you don't feel a lot of withdrawl. Then you'll be off before you know it! And no stressing about finding a doc,or arguing with docs or counting your pills to make sure you won't run out.
