RLS is Annoying!!

Im sure alot of people can relate to having rls during detox I hate when the mind fixates on the legs and you just want to cut them off so you can sleep!! anyone got good remedies for rls? im on day 6 off slow taper down to about 1 mg maybe 2 mg per day basically cumbs. Any feedback on RLS is appreciated. thank you

Is a slow taper off tramadol worth it, or does it just prolong the agony? I am tapering 1/4 pill every 12 days. Thanks!

I had RLS for as long as I can remember (before pain meds). Tried RX but they made me VERY sick!!!
Since detox (16 days) it is SO much more annoying. Its not just my legs but also my arms. I do the hot soaks. When its my arms I squeeze a pillow as tight as possible to flex the muscles. I also drink a mixture of 8 oz OJ, 1 tsp honey & 1 TBS apple cider vinegar). I have learned laying on my back makes it SOOO much worse!!
I also take potassium & eat bananas. I have not tried it but I have read a bar of ivory soap under your sheets works.
I keep forgetting to buy some.
It does get better. Mine is down to only 10-15 mins per night and I sleep a full 9 hours (except when I have to get up to check my diabetic sons blood sugar)

hey guys thank you so much!!! this is all great information i wil try the highlands tomorrow when i can go to the store it is 4 in the morning or i would go now.. i got some sleep what i did was pretend i was riding a bycycle around town and acually peddle with my feet haha crazy right... anyway i do know about the benedryl because before i got on subs i was smokin and snortin heroin i told myself i would never shoot it and i never did but i got to that graduation poin where its not economical, and i wasnt getting high anymore so i got on subs start with like 12 mg a day for a month then 8 for 2 months then just tapering down.anyway right before i got on subs i tried to ct off the black and took a crap ton of benadryl after not sleeping for a couple days.. Omg my whole body was kicking and i was contorting and spasming... so horrible anyway thank you for the replys :) much love trev

I second the above.  The Hylands worked great for me.  But honestly, getting as much exercise as possible during the day (which in early days was literally a hobble around the block) and then smothering my legs with Tiger Balm (found at health food or asian stores) helped.  I'd fall asleep for a few minutes and then wake up with my legs jumping and so I'd pace (like a turtle) then I'd eat a banana.  Voila!  I'd sleep an hour or two.  RLS and lack of sleep are the hardest part of detox IMO.  I know you were on subs.  For me I c/t off of 100 mg of oxy and about 30-40 mg of hydro.  High dose.  And that was AFTER tapering for a year.  I was originally on 75 mcg of fentanyl every 48 hrs and 40 mg of hydro.  Yikes.  It's hard for me to believe it when I type those numbers.  But it took me 6 years to get there and only about 2 months to feel myself again so it was a WIN.

Whatever you do DO NOT TAKE BENADRYL or GRAVOL or any kind of antihistamine or OTC sleep aid other than melatonin.  It makes it soooo much worse.  Also, drink as much fluid as you possibly can.  And then drink some more.  Detoxing requires about 10 times the fluid that regular days need.
Another thing that helped me immensely was an infrared sauna.  I was fortunate in that I own one (bought it for my rheumatoid arthritis) I would go in and sweat it out and drink about 3 litres of water.  I swear it sped up my detox a lot.  I didn't take immodium or anything else during detox, I just wanted that poison out of my system as fast as possible.  
Your body has been to hell and back and recovery is a process that requires a lot of time, patience, and self love.

Hello. Yes rls for me the worst. I tried every natural thing on market for rls. For me nothing worked. Others have had good results with Hylands. I take gabba too. Now I just take vitamin and otc unison to sleep. Which has helped or makes me sleepy to get few hours. But legs still jump all over and wakes me up. Hang in there. Praying helps too.

hot Epsom salt baths, theres an OTC medication called Hylands restful legs you can buy at walgreens or cvs.. Jacuzzi is awesome for rld, also a warm towel wrapped between the legs is good.. just mt advice
