I guess im being a fool, im trying to get some info please. Im detoxing off of methadone im tryin despeartly to get a answer i must be makeing people mad at me if so sorry. but theres not to manny answers , so here it goes , im at 64mgs of methadone , im decreasing 5mgs a week to 0mgs. heres my question if i start withdrawling decreasing 5mgs a week and i keep going will i withdrawl 3 months or 2to 3 wks. in other words will the withdrawls stop in a couple of weeks or when i hit 0mgs. And I think if u drop 30 at once u wud feel withdrawal symptoms for sure. It sounds good, like the perfect plan. :) but I am afraid it won't work like we want it. :(

As for the dose reduction....it is highly recommended to go slow. The idea is to reduce ur dose without it ever affecting u or affecting u minimal at the very least.
Reducing 5mg every 2 weeks should do u fine! U shud most likely not feel any major symptoms going down 5 mg...as long as ur body can stable off on new dose before u reduce again. 5 a week is too fast in my opinion. Methadone has a long half life - 1 days dose is with u for at least 24 hours. Sometimes a lil longer for some ppl. Reducing 5 mg will take at least a week n half to two weeks for ur body to stable off on ur new dose. But what ur doing is reducing 5 mg one week then 7 days later reducing 5 again. Ur body is not having time to ever stable off! So I see at this rate u having n feeling the withdrawal symptoms until 7-10 days after u come off totally.

thanks man i was just wondering how that worked when you   started to withdrawl  i dont think im withdrawling ive had this for awhile it feels like the flu. its prob to soon to being at 64 like you said 20 30 sounds more like it i wonder if i can drop now like 30 now and be ok?

hi sorry for all the trouble im haveing everyone. i still dont know what im doing trying to figure out how to work this post. any ways i cant get a hold of gnarly i think hes prob. mad at me. but anyways my doctor nos nothing about methadone ,which isnt doing me much good. But i have been feeling bad for a while i dont think im withdrawling. im at 64 mgs going down 5mgs a week but im cold, nausea,feels like someone sitting on your stomach short of breath, but today has been the worse, mon, was my first 5mgs drop 2mgs a week before that, so if you go down 5mgs a week till 0mgs your gonna be sick the whole time if your withdrawling, it dosent get better every day?

if withdrawals frighten you and it seams like they do.....go slow and avoid most of them for me I got hit at 40 and 20....20 lasted like 6 friggin weeks for me but I was coming off a longgg and high dose you get more stuff with that said most people get hit around 20 some around 10 and it will kinda linger infor most below 20 there not full blown withdrawals usually....its usually more of discomforts as you go along the closer to 0 the more you feel again I cannot tell you enough.....Go slow if you dont want problems.......Good luck........Gnarly

If I'm not mistaken, the withdrawal will not end until you're completely off them and have been clean for awhile. I'm surprised you're experiencing withdrawal already though. I went from 50mg down to 1.25mg in 6 weeks and didn't get hit with the w/d's until I got down to about 10mg. Everyone is different though. Have you asked your doc these questions? If not, I would, and I wouldn't leave until I got the answers I deserved! Good luck.
