My doc stopped seeing me

My family doctor of 2 years stopped seeing me because my other doc ( my obgyn of 20 years) was giving me the same meds ( ativan) I have been using this medication for about 7 years for anxiety, Last year i went thru a battle with breast cancer and my anxiety level with thru the roof, I did get the meds at 2 different pharmacys, will i go to jail for this?

You will not go to jail I can say that pretty confidently. You need not worry yourself about that.   ok.     Don't be afraid about that. That is a last resort for the repeat offender that will not straighten up.

Oh, and while most certainly there could be legal ramifications, I honestly wouldn't be too worried about it right now..I would make your focus trying to find another practioner to help you taper.

It would be great if you could talk to both docs, just be humble and honest, admit your mistake, and tell them you're going to seek some help, but it doesn't look like getting into see either is an option at this point, habe you tried to ask to be seen?  You could try that, if even to just come clean and clear the air.  Who knows, maybe one of them WILL decide to help you.

Very best to you hon.

Definitely a tricky situation.  It's unfortunate, but because you basically were "doctor" shopping, the docs absolutely have every right to not prescribe a controlled substance to you again.  That being said, it really IS imperative that you taper off the Ativan versus going cold turkey because of the risks.  It's a shame that the docs weren't willing to at least give you enough to taper with.

I would really recommend seeking out another doctor, or clinic, or something, honestly explain the situation and that you just want to be safely tapered off at this point.  Hopefully you'll find someone to help you.

How much Ativan do you take daily, and how long have you been taking it regularly?

I have to have a family doc, to keep up with my blood work, my bone scans, mamograms, ect. Thats the one that stoped seeing me. I will have to get another one but i will tell them whats going on. Yes im trying to space out the ones i have left which are very few, to wean myself off. I spoke to both docts today and they both told me they could not give me any more, so i guess i have no choice.

You HAVE to wean off of ativan.  You could get SO sick.  Seizures.  Hallucinations.  It's bad!  You can't just stop taking it after that long.  So, for sure talk to the doc about that.....the one you are still seeing, maybe?

I doubt you will be arrested if this is your first time. Of course you don't want to try it even one more time by adding a 3rd Dr. into the mix. Chances are your OB and both pharmacies have both been notified and will speak to you when you go for another refill. Are you wanting off the ativan?
