detox off methadone

I've been taking methadone pills 60 t0 70 mg daily for about 1 year along with drinking about a pint of gin daily.  I am not under a doctor's care so all the pills I get is off the streets.  Anyway, I am tired and I want to come off methadone, but I'm afraid of the w/d that everyone states is so damn hard.  What is the best way to detox?  Should I try suboxone?  I don't think that I can do it cold turkey.

Hey dude I came off 150mg of it you got to do it slowly we cant post taper plans in the forum but every couple of days cut your dose back slowly.... taper off methadone is a funny drug the lower the dose the harder it is to taper so as you get lower you must go even slower let your body be the final judge if your really dope sick your going to fast but your going to feel something and its not going to be pleasant just pace yourself and remember this is a race one by the tortus not the hare....as for the gin you my need to go to rehab to get off that you actually can die detoxing off booze...nothing to mess with good luck and God bless....Gnarly

best to taper...slowly...count them out and dole them over to a trusted friend if need be

No,you really shouldn't cold turkey from that high an amount.   The very best thing would be to get with a doctor who can advise you and prescribe meds for you. You need to begin tapering down from the the Methadone and only a doctor can give you a taper plan. If you choose not to go, then taper slowly on your own. Methadone withdrawal is particularly unpleasant so the lower the mgs the less intense.
