one time happens, same pain meds, 2 doctors

I changed pain doctors recently. The first gave me a Methadone script for 40mg a day (which I never filled (was written 20 days ago)...My new doctor gave me a Methadone script for 90mg/day which I filled on June 4th thru my insurance. I noticed that I'm short about 70 pills. This gives me enough till next fill date if I only take 40mg/day (ironically the same as the first doc was writing for me)..My question is, If I fill the first docs script at a different pharmacy and don't pay for it thru the insurance, will it go thru? It would be a way for me to make up for the shortage just this one time. This never happened to me before.  But I don't want to break the law either. What do you think? *The reason I'm short eludes me.  I know I didn't take that many extra pills within the past 10 days..

Should I fill the other one or just "grin-n-bear it?"

HI methadone is a highly controlled substance above all the other narcotics so I doubt you would be able to get it filled just know this all prescribing doctors get a copy of the pharmacy records so your doctor/s will know and probably cut you off if you know whats good for you you will get off this drug b/4 it has a chance to get its hooks in you the withdrawal is long and hard it would be best if you where on something short acting like percs or hydros do your self a favor and get off the methadone wile you still can good luck and God bless........Gnarly

im with everyone else on this one about being so many pills short.somethings definatly not right with that.and altho u could go ahead an pay cash at a differant pharmacy, i personally (altho ive done itmyself)would think hard about it because maybe you do it once or even a hundred times an never get caught, its a horrible thing if you were to get caught an they tried to get ya for doctor shopping.im definatly no expert but im pretty sure they could charge you with something.in the meantime maybe you should invest in a lockbox or something.good luck to you.

Whoa,,wait. You are short 70pills? I could understand being short 1-5 pills but 70? Do you know how many pills were given to you in the first place? Like 90, 120? Are you taking more than prescribed a day? There are just some red flags here,,is there someone in the house that could also be taking them? Its just a lot to be missing. I dont think you should have any trouble at the pharmacy if its not ran thru the insurance but some pharmacies want an insurance card anyways and will "run" it thru just to run it thru. At least thats happened to me in the past like when I get another inhaler and its to soon, its like they run it thru for good measure anyways. Im just concerned that 70 pills are missing. Thats an awful lot to just disappear. Iw wish you the best. Keep your eyes open. Be careful. ((hugs))~Bkitty

It would def go thru if u do it at a different pharmacy and dont use insurance. U will have to pay out of pocket tho. Ive done this several times before.... Worked everytime.
