please help me help my sister!!!
How can i help my sister get off from taking pain pills like vicoden. she really wants to get off from them but she can't she tells me all the time that she wishes she could!!!

Hello and welcome. How much does your sister take? The intensity and length of w/drawal will depend on that.
Irregardless she is going to have some withdrawal.. but its not the end of the world and it wont kill her. She can get through it like many here have already and are in the middle of doing right now. There is stuff you can do to help. If her intake is high, hold them for her.. Try to taper her down a bit.. give her a bit less every 3 days or so. Tapering is hard when your addicted. Works great for some, but most of us cannot control what we do.
She can go cold turkey which works for most. Its not easy but, again, if she wants it all she had to do is do it. Stock up on some vitamins (see health pages on this forum -- Amino Acid Protocol). Get banannas, gatorade, IMMODIUM, Tylenol and/or Advil for aches and pains and give her some time. Hot baths or showes are a real LIFESAVER when your going through detox -- i bet saunas and jacuzzis would be great too if she had access. She can expect to feel like she has the worst flu ever (sort of but not really but sort of) for about 3-5 days..after a day or two get her up and exercising. Walking and exercising are KEY factors in getting back to feeling better. The exercise helps create much needed endophins.
