HI sorry to here your in so much pain and wile detoxing it can seam worst...once you flush you body out of the narcotics you might find like I did that your pain clock sorta resets itself and things that dident use to work now work...its a viscous cycle your body craves the meds and you wind up in more pain because of the med then you would be narcotic free at least thats how it worked out for me...now all I take is 800mg ibuprofin and it takes the edge off enough to get by...check your E/mail I sent you some info that might be able to help you good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

Do you know that using pain medication intensifies your pain during withdrawal? As tough as it is, if you can get past those first few days of physical detox I will bet you'll find the pain is not as bad as it originally was.

I live with back pain every day and I DO understand what it feels like. Unless you have it you can't explain it to anyone. Still, I found my pain was at it's worst during withdrawal.

If you are seeing a PM doctor, would you feel comfortable talking with him/her and setting up a taper schedule? From there they may be able to find an alternative for pain relief.

Good luck. Hope you feel better.

You are posting the right way!!!  Does your doctor know you are going to be getting off the pills?  If your wife is reading this too she has to stand strong while you are tapering.  This has to be very disciplined.  Please let her know she can post on here too.  Addiction affects the whole family and we will support her also.  I didnt taper as i went ct but there are others who did and they will be on that can explain how the tapering works.  Just keep a positive attitude.  You dont have to be a prisoner to these pills anymore......sara

When we go thru wd's we feel rebound pain.  It is very intense for a bit but then it does go away.  Many of us feel less pain now that we are off the pills.  Check into some sort of recovery care also.  Would your wife hold your meds for you?  Tapering on our own is very hard to do.  We are here for you so keep talking with us........sara

Using is not an option here......Dont get those pills.  You will only feel worse.  Focus on staying clean.  I know you feel rotten but this will go away.  Fight with everything you have.  You can do this.......sara

I do fully understand the withdraw process is the hardest part of becoming a recoving addict.  If you take a few more deep breaths, tell yourself that you don't really need it, you just badly want it, then go & run yourself a nice refreshing tub, grab a book that might keep you intrigued, pour yourself a tall refreshing smoothy & climb into the tub full of bubbles, even men can do this to relax you don't have to be a woman.  My hubby swears by a relaxing bubble bath to unwind after a stressful day.  And if he doesn't feel like the bubbles he still runs himself a hot bath & pulls out a book that will keep him intrigued for an hour or two to unwind & patiently wait while the water cools & if he still feels stressed, he empties a little of the water & runs more hot water.  repeat as needed.  I found gardening & crocheting to be my best relaxers.

But before I was a full blown recovering addict I didn't even have this husband & I found God was my most useful tool to rely on for strength in overcoming the desire of the drugs.

Sweetie, I know EXACTLY what you feel. I'm a 45 year old grandma  I was where you are 9 days ago, only difference is I only had to go as far as my bedroom to get the pills that were calling my name from the bottom drawer...Take a deep breath...you've gone 2 whole days without this monkey and he's just mad right now, but take one sec and think.....do you really want to start all over again? You've got 2 whole days under your belt! Don't make yourself have to start over again. This isn't easy, listen to these folks, they know what their talking about. Live in a hot bath tub if you have to, I did for 3 days straight. Keep this open and keep talking, just please don't give in.....Cindy

Are you taking vitamins and minerals to help your body?If you feel the compulsion to take something take 2 extra strength advil or 2 extrastrength tylenol for the pain.Just don't exceed 4000mg tylenol or 2400mg advil in 24 hours.
Drink gatorade or lots of orange juice.
Keep posting, but DO NOT BUY or take drugs

Don't do it! You don't have to put yourself through this hell again! It's really not worth it. Go to an AA or NA meeting instead of the dope house! It's not about wanting to stay sober, it's about being willing to do what is necessary. I know it seems like the only way out right now, but do whatever it takes to stay sober. Good Luck!

It's hard but you need to make the choice!!!   Do things to help yourself with the withdrawals instead of feeding them with pills!!!!   Get in a really hot shower and keep pushing through...   You know you want this over and it will be very soon but not if you take more pills. Just don't do it. Simple. Stay home and stay off the phone! Make the choice. Do you want to be sick or be well?
Keep posting~
