pain

As a worst case scenario, how long would you have to be off of narcotics to determine whether your pain was from the drug or from actual pain?  I realize there isn't an exact date but I'm looking for a general time.

Thanks

Hi,

Wow, that is impressive that you were able to quit fentanyl patches cold turkey.

I'm sorry to hear about your heart attack, but glad you are ok.

I will have to taper.  I think my system is pretty sensitive because I get sick just trying to knock one tablet off so I'm going to have to try for 1/2 or 1/4th at first.  I'm not too happy that they have pulled immodium off the market but still have some left.  I just hope I can become stable at a lower dose and that the pain will go down after I am stable and that it does not take me 2 months for the pain to level off.

Thanks for sharing.

Everyone is different, but tylenol 4's aren't too hard to kick. I took them for many years before I switched to celebrex, then oxy. (well first to celebrex, a heart attack, then morphine then fentynol then oxy)   Taper off them  to avoid those horrible tylenol headaches and you shouldn't have too much trouble.  Good Luck!

I was on fentynol for three years 150mcg/day, and quit those cold turkey. I was grumpy and tired for three days and that was about it. A month later I was put on oxy and have been on it ever since- (480g/day now) ten years now.

I apologize for the question and it would take forever to explain everything.  I realized after I posted I shouldn't have.

However, if it took you, dominosarah a month or 2 before you noticed a decrease in pain then I am going to have to do this by a slow taper as I don't have a cold turkey in me.

I am on tylenol 4's and have been for a couple of years.

I have arthritis in my back as well as a back surgery that didn't do what it was supposed to do as the surgeon should have done 2 levels as opposed to one.

I appreciate all of you taking the time to write.

I would say a good amount of your pain is from the opiates because they cause a rebound pain and depends. on how much and how long you have been taking them.
It took me about 3 to 4 weeks to recover from rebound pain and now I have less pain than when I took the narcs.
