please HELP!! is it possible to use methadone for a short time to get off oxys??

I have been addicted to painkillers for about 2 years, currently taking 80mg of oxycotin a day. I have tried to quit numerous times and it is not working. BUT i do not want to get addicted to methadone....is it possible to use methadone for a short time to ease withdrawls without becoming a methadone addict? I do not want to be on methadone for the rest of my life..

switching one narcotic for another...is just that...switching one narcotic for another

folks often get in deep d0o doo doing the switcheroo

fact is..if u wanna stop...u just gotta make up ur mind, pick a Quit day, get a plan in place..and get it done.

Addicts like easy...they hate any sorta pain with a passion as a rule

there is just no easy way to do this

then life is not always easy...is it?

Hi,

I would not recommend a maintenance drug such as Methadone to come off Oxy, especially 80 mgs. You are playing with fire if you make that jump.

I have to suggest that either you go the taper route and jump or go ct. I know that sounds easy and it isn't but it is doable.

There is great support here and we can help you with home remedies and such to ease the withdrawal process. I hope you consider it.
