starting my soberity journey

Hey everyone! Today is my first day without oxys, it is starting to suck but i am willing to go through with this. I am tired of being a slave. spending the money, looking for them and living my life around if i have any or how many i have left! it is a sorry way to live. I have had anxiety and an very upset stomach today. I am sure tomorrow will be worse. Does anyone know how long this will last? i was take about 30 to 60 mgs a day for a year.

Good for you!! Expect to have miserable w/drawal for about 3-4 days, and then from there it gets better and better each day. I'm starting Day 15 today, and i feel like i've come such a long way in just 2 weeks. I can now sleep straight thru the night, wake up alert, etc... I noticed NOTICABLE improvement at about 7 days.
I would advise that even though you surely don't feel like doing ANYTHING right now, that as soon as you're slightly able (a couple days) that you MAKE yourself do some exercise. It has helped tremendously in my recovery. (My preference is bike riding and stretching) It pumps natural endorphins and make you feel better in the long run. Though it may suck while you're doing it, it also helps transfer all that mental anguish into physical activity. Work it out!! Make sure you're eating healthy foods, try to stay away from processed foods. Lots of fish, yogurt, fruit, veggies, etc... Take L-Tyrosine, B6, multivitamin, and B12 for energy. you'll also need Immodium for the runs. I've been addicted to painkillers for over 3 years, and if I can do it so can you!!! Just keep that courage, strength, and DETERMINATION!!! you CAN do this!!

HI welcome to the forum so today is the beginning to the rest of your life...it sounds like you are ready to do this now theirs just the doing it part...first off attitude is everything
go into this with a win win attitude you will be pill free on the other side..get comfortable with the saying..."you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile" this is only temporary
and you will get thew it for the next few days it going to feel like you got the flu with some added anxiety just hang in there and dont take any more oxy to try and feel better it will only prolong things you have been given some good advise from people that have been there ...im big on a good long hot bath to help you feel better it sooths a lot of the symptoms you may need a few a day to help get by...the main thing is try not to get discouraged because of your symptoms use them to strengthen your resolve to quit...keep reading the posts and post often for support we all want you to succeed good luck and God bless....Gnarly

Congrats to all of you posting on this thread for quitting.  In a few days you will start to feel better and it should improve dramatically each day there after.  If you ever start to lose it or ask yourself during the process why you are going through the withdrawal, just go back and look at the post again and read others posts who have been there.  Keep reminding yourself of the pain you are in from the addiction and know that the chain can be broken.  Keep posting and get into an aftercare program - therapy, NA/AA.  This is a lifelong process, but well worth it!

I think your comment about "some people not having w/d's" would may be true for someone that had taken oxys at very low doses and for a short period of time. But oxys are a strong opioid and really messes with the receptors in your brain. So take care when you post info such as that. Just my opinion

Great to here that you want to get your life back. You made the right decision. I am on day 3 of oxy w/d and this is probably the worst day but there light at the end of the tunnel. You have come to the right forum for help. The people are the greatest and some of most compassionate I have come across in my life. As far as how long the w/d's will last it should be 4-7 day from the info I have received from most of the posters on the forum. You should drink plenty of fluids and get yourself some vitamin B6, B12, Multivitamins. Also get some bananas for potassium or you can get potassium supplements. Check out the Thomas recipe on the forum it will help you get through tough time, its not a magic bullet but it helps. w/d's from oxys is no picnic but you will start to see it will be worth it. For sleep get NyQuil without antihistamines. Hang in there I am pulling for you you can beat this. I will pray for you.

It will take about a week, getting better after about day 3 or maybe 4.  Now, everyone is different, so you could go a day one way or another.  Just remember that you won't feel better overnight!  Have you read the amino acid protocol in the health pages?  Thomas recipe has good info too.  Hot baths help.  Heating pad will also help.  You should stay hydrated with lots of gatorade, water and apple juice if you have some.  That will help leg cramps.  Eat some soup and crackers so you will have something on your stomach.  You will need imodium or pepto also!  I'm sure you know why!!!

Good luck.  Keep posting here.  You will get a lot of help!

Awesome that you have made the decision to quit.  Sleeping through most of it would be my plan... it is rough for some people and others have no withdrawal.

Good for you!  I can't really offer much help, I'm on day 1 without norcos.  I feel like I'm breaking by the minute but reading posts like yours reminds me of why the hell I'm doing this.  It's not a way to live. We've lived as prisoners for far too long.  It took you a good year to get where you are and compared to that, this all will be over before you know it.  My thoughts will be with you...Good luck Taylor!
