Thank you you give me real hope, on absolutely quitting. I have no Idea how i got to this point, but just experimentation but here I am, and talking with you folks helps thank you.
I was on IV dilaudid for 2 months in the hospital...continioius drip and was able to push it as well. I tapered off the IV in the hospital. Felt terrible for maybe 3 days....switched to oral...then off.....you can do it.
Thank you Acting you have given me hope, well all here have also. I cant go oral tab b/c its not a rx, so i have to stick to what i have :(
Congrats on making the decision to quit. Ive come off a number of different opiates over the years and IV Dilaudid happens to be one of them. I used to IV more than what your doing and I was able to successfully stop so Im confident you can too. I did try to go cold turkey and it was rough so I ended up tapering. The taper has to be orally...not intravenously. I was shooting like 6-8 mg a day plus snorting another 4-6mg. When I started tapering, I went straight to oral use. I cant give you specific tapering advice since its not allowed here but I will say stop the IV use and take it orally and go from there. It didn't take me long to get down to where I was able to make that final jump and the detox was actually one of the easier ones. So there's a huge difference in going cold turkey versus tapering. I was feeling pretty good after around the 4th...5th day.
You arent taking that much so it may be easier for you. I would still recommend stabilizing on it by stopping the IV use and taking it orally before you decide to stop. Whether it be cold turkey or a taper, I think it will make a big difference for you.
Good luck
So far no real plan other than just wanting to stop all this. Just sick of it, i want to get back to doing what i use to do, running on the tredmill and just enjoying life. I can take the week of work if thats what its going to take. I just want to get this behind me and move forward thank ever 1 who posted
Dilaudid is pretty powerful in terms of opioid pain medications. Have you tried quitting before? You can do it either way, it just depends on which you think makes more sense. If you don't think you'll be compliant with a taper, then cold turkey may be best.
Being that your IV'ing it, hopefully any w/d you have won't last TOO incredibly long. You'd probably be through the worst of it in a week, tops. Then it will take some time for all of the residual stuff to improve until you're 100% back to normal.
Read up on the Thomas recipe here, great tips for managing detox symptoms. What is your recovery plan? What kind of help are you going to seek out for the addiction?
Hi there! Big congrats on your decision to quit! I personally know nothing about dilaudid. I just want to offer my support and let you know others will be along shortly. Give it a couple hours or so, it gets busier.
I'll be rooting for you.
Good Morning Player,
Welcome and congratulations on your decision for sobriety.
I personally have never used dilaudid so I can't give you specific advice
about that but don't be discouraged, it's still very early in the morning.
Somebody who's qualified to help you should be addessing you shortly.
Hang tight till then.
Peace and prayers friend
