You have made so much progress and now you just have a little more to go through to make if off. I've done it many times and am now free for 6 years and although meds can help, the main focus should be on a positive attitude or a spiritual belief. all the best

welcome to the forum, i quit a 240mg a day methadone habit in 2004, have been clean since august 04
i also have detoxed by tapering on using short acting opiates as a comfort med, like the loricets, but i used darvocets
before suboxone, all treatment centers used short acting opiates like darvocets or percocets to help people get off methadone
i still believe in this tradition, darvocets, clonidine, and trazadone
on the nights when you cannot sleep just stay out of the bed, i went 3 weeks during my ct withdrawl without sleeping, i was also unable to eat or drink and was puking green bile, needless to say i ended up in icu, BUT i was on a huge amount and i have liver disease, this complicated my detox
get some comfort meds, take your kids to a sitter, tell your husband to clean the house, get to na, find some people in your area that are in recovery and can hold your hand while you are going through this

unfortunately with methadone it really doesn't matter if u quit at 30 mgs, 10 mgs or 1 mgs.  Hot baths help and like everyone else has said...thomas recipe...melatonin...heating pad, I even tried the soap bar under my sheets at night.  any kind of pm medicine seemed to just make me more irritable because my head was so tired but my body felt like it was coming out of it's own skin so i think it best to just stick with melatonin. (just my opinion however).  and of course excercise...as painful as it sounds and feels....it really does push the process along quicker.  And posting...that helps a lot too.....brisk walks ....all the best.

Do not go on subuxone.  Ive come off of methadone before and relapsed so i went to subuxone.  i started at 16mg and am down to 1mg now.  All of the drops in dose were fine except for 1mg to 1/2mg.  It has me thinking of using.  Thats how bad I feel.  I initially tried going from 1 to 0 and that didnt work out so well.  I was in the bathroom at work puking my brains out - took my 1mg and felt great again.  Arghhhhhh.

The methadone actually gets stored in your fat. What I have read about methadone tapering says to taper only 20% at a time if you can. I will never touch Methadone again because of the horrible wd's. They say there are two wd periods you have to go through. Also, methadone and most other narcs do not go together. They cancel eachother out making the wd's more prominent if I remember right. It's been so long since I read up on it. Good luck.I came off Methadone when my daughter was one month old, it sucked. My mom had to help take care of my daughter while husband was at work I was so incapacitated (sp?)

I have never been on methadone but I have had friends on it. From what I am told is that methadone takes a very long time to detox off of. Reason being that it seeps in your bone marrow  making it very difficult to get off of. I have heard of people getting off of methadone w/suboxone but I don't know if thats a good idea? My suggestion is to see a doctor. Good luck.

the most meth i've been on for about 2 years is 40 mg's a day,i eventually went down to 10mg's a day and thats the furthist i could go without getting extremely sick,as a matter of fact i ended up going to detox,i also have a benzo and an alcohol problem, but back to what you were saying, yes taking any more opiates will only prolong the withdrawal.it seems like kicking that last 10 mg's is a b1tch,believe me i know.do you have any left,if so i would take 5 mg's once a day for 3 days and then jump down to 2.5 mg's for 3 days, the following 2 days just take a little piece, maybe 1 mg.now after 1 or 2 days after this taper your going to start the feeling the withdrawals come on,take a little piece 1 or 2 more times, only 1 a day and then hope for the best.you should be ok.there's also a thomas recipe at the bottom right of this page.click on it and it will tell you ways of restoring your body back to health, comm.members swear by it.good luck and keep posting.    steveo
